Technical SEO Executive


Reporting to: Senior Technical SEO Manager


The Role:
As a Technical SEO Executive, you’ll be working as part of the traffic acquisition team and reporting to the Senior Technical SEO manager. You’ll be a major part of the Owned and Earned media team helping deliver the overall SEO strategy for VMo2, working across both sites.


The ideal candidate should have solid experience in technical SEO. They should be confident in carrying out technical tasks and be able to convey complex technical issues with stakeholders.


Job Responsibilities:
● Support the Technical SEO manager in delivering the technical roadmap
● Undertake regular site crawls and technical audits, including log-file analysis, to identify areas for on-site improvements
● Carry out Core Web Vital (CWV) audits and provide recommendations for improvement
● Implement technical optimisations through product teams and directly in the CMS
● Share technical analysis and recommendations with the Owned and Earned team, brand and other internal departments to inform and implement the SEO strategy
● Carry out technical competitor analysis to gain insight on performance and opportunities
● Support on ad hoc projects such as site migrations
● Support product teams by advising on technical SEO issues during MVP phases, product tests and launches
● Regularly report on overall technical KPIs alongside strategic recommendations and insights
● Keep up to date with technical best practice, Google algorithms and the latest Google quality guidelines - feeding this back into the Owned and Earned team
● Assist with improving workflows and processes with a focus on automation.


Skills and Experience:
● You are a person that has strong technical SEO experience, either in-house or agency side
● Experience working in an SEO team and understand why technical SEO needs to be at the heart of a website’s strategy
● You excel in identifying technical bugs and monitoring technical health across complex sites
● You should have an excellent knowledge of HTML and on-site web development, with the ability to understand the key changes required to improve site performance and manage this with on-site teams
● You understand how JavaScript can impact Google’s ability to crawl a site and have experience auditing JavaScript heavy sites
● You have experience implementing changes in different CMSs
● You are comfortable and keen to share the latest SEO best practices with team members and stakeholders
● You can demonstrate a good understanding of SEO tools like Screaming frog, Google search console, Oncrawl, ContentKing or similar
● You understand the importance of log file analysis, crawl budgets and indexability issues and can understand how Googlebot is behaving across websites.
● You are highly analytical, using consumer, site and search data to drive growth
● You have experience in web analytic platforms like Google analytics & Adobe analytics and have used reporting tools such as Looker Studio to build dashboards.


Must haves:
● Experience carrying out technical SEO audits and monitoring a site’s technical health
● Experience with SEO auditing tools such as Screaming Frog, OnCrawl, Search Console or similar
● An understanding of Core Web Vitals and how to review and improve page speed
● Confident implementing changes within a CMS
● Experience working with multiple stakeholders to implement and review recommendations


Nice to haves:
● Understanding of how to carry out log file analysis for crawl efficiency improvements
● Experience auditing sites with Javascript infrastructure
● Experience supporting site migrations
● Experience using automation to improve processes
● Proven track record of driving technical SEO change within a large business environment
