Job Description

General Practice Veterinary Surgeon

West Lancashire, UK | 30–40 hours per week | No OOH

Are you looking to settle into a practice where you can build lasting relationships with both your clients and your team? Do you want to work in a practice where your voice is heard, and positive change genuinely happens?

If so, we may have the role for you!

About Us

We are a growing, independent-minded practice that opened in summer 2016 and have built our client base from zero to over 4,000 active clients. We’re proud to offer modern facilities with all the equipment you would expect from a high-quality general practice, including dental radiography and laparoscopy.

Our close knit team includes four vets, a practice manager, a head nurse with a dedicated nursing team (including student nurses and veterinary care assistants), and a client care manager with a supportive reception team. We’re proud of our low staff turnover and positive work environment.

Thanks to our strong nurse to vet ratio, our nurses are utilised to their full potential. They run a range of chargeable clinics and perform a variety of Schedule 2 procedures, allowing vets to focus on clinical decision making and case continuity.

We’re honest enough to say we aren’t perfect - but we are always trying to be better. We actively work towards maintaining a healthy work–life balance and creating an inclusive environment where people feel comfortable speaking up. We don’t want problems taken home at the end of the day, and we genuinely welcome ideas on how we can improve - both clinically and non clinically.

Our growth has been built on strong, trusting relationships with our clients and their pets. We work to a high standard while remaining pragmatic and compassionate, always helping clients make the right decisions for them and their animals.

About You

We’re looking for a Veterinary Surgeon who values relationships and enjoys being part of a team. You don’t have to be best friends with everyone - but feeling comfortable, supported, and respected at work matters to us.

You’ll be joining an experienced vet team so you don’t need to be a top level surgeon. We’re happy to support you in building confidence and developing your skills. With a large, capable nursing team, we’re looking for someone who respects their knowledge and works collaboratively to get the best outcomes.

You’ll have a positive, methodical approach to your day, with the ability to manage time and priorities sensibly. We don’t want someone who works themselves into the ground - because if you crack, nobody wins. We want someone who loves being a vet and understands the demands of the role, but also recognises there’s more to life than work.

Building trusting relationships with clients is key. Whether you’re discussing a vaccination plan or catching up on how their child did at school, those small connections matter. We believe that bond is crucial to high quality veterinary care.
