Job Description

Veterinary Surgeon (Part-Time) - Bangor North Wales Vets for Pets

If you’re looking to work alongside experienced, supportive colleagues in a practice that is growing and evolving, we’d love to welcome you to Bangor North Wales Vets for Pets.

About Us

We’re a friendly, diverse team who genuinely enjoy working together and sharing knowledge. Our experienced nursing team brings over 20 years of expertise across first opinion and emergency care, while our front-of-house colleagues offer 15 years of customer care experience, creating a confident, capable, and welcoming environment for both clients and patients.

Collaboration and development are at the heart of what we do. We regularly invest in both internal and external CPD, and we’re passionate about helping each team member grow. Whether you have a specific clinical interest or are still exploring your options, you’ll be fully supported by both the practice and our experienced regional network.

The Role

Due to continued growth in caseload, we’re now seeing a broader and more complex range of medical and surgical cases, offering excellent variety in your day-to-day work.

We also work with visiting specialists across areas such as orthopaedics and cardiology, allowing us to deliver advanced care to our loyal client base and we’re keen to continue developing these capabilities within the team.

Our purpose-built surgery is equipped to a high clinical standard, providing you with the tools, space, and support needed to deliver exceptional patient care.

We’re looking for a Veterinary Surgeon with small animal experience in general practice, who is confident clinically and enjoys working as part of a team. Strong communication and people skills are essential. Additional qualifications or specialist interests are welcomed and fully supported, but not required.

Working Pattern

  • Part-time: 20–30 hours per week
  • Weekend rota shared fairly across the team

Our Culture & Wellbeing

We take colleague wellbeing seriously and recognise the pressures of the veterinary profession. We actively promote a supportive and open culture, with wellbeing initiatives in place and plans for Mental Health First Aid training. Our aim is to create a workplace where everyone feels safe, valued, and able to thrive.

Location

Our practice is located in Menai Retail Park, offering a wide range of shops and convenient free on-site parking—perfect for a quick lunch or post-work errands.

Bangor itself is a vibrant waterfront city, rich in history and surrounded by natural beauty. From the stunning Bangor Cathedral to the nearby Snowdonia National Park and beautiful coastal beaches, there’s plenty to explore. You’ll also have easy access to larger cities such as Chester, Liverpool, and Manchester for days out or weekend trips.

What We Offer

  • Salary up to £70,000 FTE (dependent on experience)
  • Pension, healthcare, and paid professional memberships
  • Generous CPD allowance and genuine career progression opportunities
  • Exclusive lifestyle and retail discounts (including Pets at Home)
  • Relocation support and visa sponsorship available (A+ rated sponsor)
