Job Description

Part-Time Veterinary Surgeon – Brand New Practice – Glossop

Up to £60,000 Pro Rata DOE | No OOH | True Flexibility

Looking for a role that genuinely fits around your life? We’ve opened a brand-new, purpose-built Vets for Pets practice in Glossop (March 2026), and we’re now looking for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join us on a part-time, flexible basis.

This is more than just a part-time role — it’s a chance to be involved from the very beginning, while maintaining the work–life balance that matters to you.

Why This Role Stands Out

We know flexibility isn’t just about fewer hours — it’s about having control. That’s why we’re open to shaping this role around you:

  • Part-time hours tailored to your lifestyle
  • Flexible working patterns where possible
  • No out-of-hours
  • A supportive environment that respects your time outside of work

Whether you’re balancing family life, other commitments, or simply want more time for yourself, this role is designed to work with you, not against you.

The Opportunity

As part of a brand-new practice, you’ll have a real voice from day one:

  • Help shape how the practice operates
  • Contribute to clinical standards and ways of working
  • Build relationships within the local community
  • Be part of creating a positive, collaborative culture

You’ll have autonomy in your role, while still being fully supported by an experienced team.

The Practice

Located within a modern Pets at Home store on Wren Nest Retail Park, our newly built practice offers:

  • Bright, spacious, air-conditioned environment
  • Modern, purpose-built clinical areas
  • State-of-the-art equipment
  • A layout designed with both efficiency and wellbeing in mind

Supportive Leadership

You’ll be working alongside two highly experienced Practice Owners:

  • Ibrahim – Veterinary Surgeon (qualified 2001)
  • Leanne – Over 25 years’ nursing experience

Their focus is simple: create a workplace where people feel supported, valued, and excited to come to work.

The Role

  • Part-time hours (flexible options available)
  • Some Saturday day working
  • No out-of-hours
  • Strong focus on work–life balance

You’ll have the time and freedom to work cases up properly, with encouragement to develop any clinical interests.

Why Glossop?

Nestled on the edge of the Peak District, Glossop offers the perfect balance between nature and community. From post-work walks to weekend adventures, it’s ideal if you enjoy the outdoors — all while staying connected to Manchester and Sheffield.

About You

We’re looking for someone who enjoys being part of a team and values flexibility. Ideally, you’ll be:

  • RCVS-registered
  • Experienced in small animal practice
  • Confident with routine medical and surgical cases
  • Comfortable with occasional sole charge
  • A strong communicator and team player

What You’ll Get

  • Salary up to £60,000 (pro rata, DOE)
  • Generous CPD allowance + certificate support
  • 5.6 weeks’ holiday (increasing with service)
  • Paid RCVS, BVA & VDS memberships
  • Pension scheme
  • Wellbeing support programmes
  • Cycle to Work scheme
  • 20% colleague discount across Pets at Home Group
