Job Description

Experienced veterinary surgeon with either a consulting or operating bias. Salary up to £50,000 - 80,000. A consulting only clinician would certainly be considered.

Our friendly small animal practice in Burgess Hill (20 mins from Brighton) is looking for another experienced, personable vet, to join the team.

Why Choose Us?
We pride ourselves on delivering exceptional veterinary care with a compassionate touch. Our clients trust us to provide comprehensive workups for their beloved pets, allowing you the opportunity to truly engage with each case. With a busy caseload and a supportive environment, you get to enjoy doing a really good job whilst being exposed to a high caseload for personal growth.

Our Amazing Team:
Join a fantastic group of 8 experienced vets, one lovely long-term locum and one new graduate vet (who has been with us since school), 9 qualified nurses, dedicated trainee nurses, and a welcoming front-of-house team. Many of our team members hold certificates and we fully support your professional growth, encouraging you to explore any areas of interest that enhance our services.

What they say!

“I feel so lucky to work in an environment with so many kind and talented people. Everyone genuinely cares and wants to deliver high standards of care for our patients. This job has allowed me to work hours that fit around my two small children which has been invaluable.” Lucinda, (Senior Vet – Medicine & Imaging Certificate holder)

I never thought that I would say that I love working in a pet shop environment, but I do, and I have been here 10 years now! It’s a vibrant place to be, lots going on in the shop and the vets. The staff are amazing, happy, cheerful and very professional. We work as a team to sort cases efficiently and with the best care possible.” Karen, (Senior Vet, Exotics Interest)

'I joined the team early on in my veterinary career and from day one I was met with incredible support. It has been a pleasure working alongside such knowledgeable, compassionate, and genuinely kind colleagues. I would recommend this practice to anyone looking for a workplace that genuinely supports career growth and promotes continuous learning within a positive and encouraging environment.' – Chelsea, (Veterinary Surgeon, undertaking surgical certificate)

Our Facilities:
Work in a purpose-built, recently renovated practice equipped with all the mod-cons, including digital X-ray, ultrasonography, in-house laboratory facilities, and separate wards for dogs, cats, and isolation cases. With a loyal client base and approximately 35% insured clients, you’ll have the resources to provide the highest standard of care.

What We’re Looking For:
We are looking for someone who is passionate about going above and beyond in their role. You may be a consulting only vet. We don’t have certificate holders in cardiology or ophthalmology currently, so an interest in these areas would be great. It may be that your main focus is surgical. Many of the nursing team have come from referral centres, so they have the experience to fully support your surgical patients whilst you operate. However, if you’re a good all-rounder, then we would still love to hear from you too!

Most importantly we are looking for an individual who cares deeply for their patients, wants to do the best for their clients and who work well within a team.

Work-Life Balance:
We understand the importance of flexibility and are open to tailoring hours to fit your lifestyle. While our ideal candidate would commit to 30-40 hours per week, we’re happy to discuss more part-time options. Typical shifts are 8am - 6pm or 10am - 8pm (with only one late shift per week) and with 1 weekend (Sat 9-6, Sun 10-4) a month. Plus, there’s no OOH responsibilities.

In return, we offer:

  • Salary £50,000 - £80,000 (dependent on experience)
  • Generous CPD/support to do a certificate or other qualification
  • Clinical freedom
  • Paid memberships (RCVS, VDS, BVA, ISFM)
  • Great clients and lovely colleagues
  • Close to Brighton and the South Downs National Park

If you’re ready to join a caring, collaborative team, we’d love to hear from you. Apply today and become part of our beloved practice in Burgess Hill!
