Job Description

Veterinary Receptionist - Join a Supportive, Locally Run Practice in Newbury

Do you have a passion for providing outstanding customer service, love spending time with animals and crave a new challenge? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team at Vets4Pets in Newbury!

About Us:
We’re a modern, purpose-built, locally owned and managed small animal practice. This means decisions are made by people who work on-site and understand what it’s like to be in your shoes. We’ve built a team where everyone feels supported, respected and part of something meaningful.

You’ll be joining an experienced team of 6 Vets (including 3 Practice Partners), 5 Registered Veterinary Nurses (including a Nursing Manager), 3 Student Nurses, 3 Receptionists (including a Reception Manager) and a Practice Manager. It’s a well-balanced team where everyone plays a valuable role and contributes to a positive working environment.

What Your Typical Day Will Look Like:

  • Your role is to deliver outstanding service to our clients while supporting the best possible care for their pets - helping to ensure clear communication and coordination between pet owners and our clinical team.
  • Greeting clients with a warm and friendly welcome, both in person and over the phone.
  • Answering phones and managing our digital services including emails and WhatsApp.
  • Administration tasks including scanning paperwork for hospitalised inpatients, insurance claim forms, registering microchips and daily cashing up reports.
  • Booking appointments, placing prescription orders, taking payments and recording all client and patient information accurately on to our in-house system.
  • Keeping the reception area tidy, organised and welcoming for clients and patients, including keeping the notice boards up-to-date.
  • Discussing our bespoke Complete Care Plan package offers to clients in order to deliver the best care for our patients.
  • Coordinating the smooth running of the day-to-day routines of the practice will be done using our online booking system, so computer literacy and strong administrative skills are a must.
  • You’ll need to thrive as part of a team, showing initiative and reliability in a fast-paced environment.

We are happy to consider full- and part-time applications. Full-time would be working 40 hours per week. This role includes full participation in the weekend rota (currently 1 in 4).

What We Offer You:

We believe that a fulfilling role and a supportive environment make all the difference and we want your time with us to feel both rewarding and enjoyable.

Here’s what we offer:

  • Salary: £22,568 - £26,436.80 per annum, depending on your skills and experience.
  • A focus on wellbeing, including regular lunch & learn sessions and team socials (summer and Christmas socials, and pub quizzes!)
  • A contributory pension scheme.
  • 20% staff discount at Pets at Home, The Groom Room and Vets4Pets.
  • Access to exclusive high street discounts and cashback rewards.
  • Opportunities for genuine career development, supported by a leadership team who are on the ground and actively involved in day-to-day practice life.
