Job Description

An exciting opportunity has become available at Clacton-on-Sea Vets for Pets for an enthusiastic and motivated Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our friendly and growing team.

We are looking for a nurse who enjoys being fully involved in patient care and wants to work in a supportive environment with strong clinical standards.

About Us:

Our modern, purpose-built surgery is located within the Pets at Home store in Clacton-on-Sea and has been thoughtfully designed to deliver excellent clinical care while maintaining a welcoming and supportive working environment for the whole team.

The practice is well-equipped with modern facilities to support high-quality general practice, including digital radiography, state of art ultrasound, in-house laboratory equipment and dedicated surgical facilities.

Our current team consists of 2 Vets, 2 RVN, 1 VCA and 2 client care advisors, working closely together to provide excellent care to our patients and clients. As the practice continues to grow, we are looking to expand our nursing team.

We encourage our nurses to utilise their full skillset and play an active role in patient care, including anaesthesia, inpatient management, nurse consultations, diagnostics and client education.

We are particularly interested in nurses who enjoy developing their clinical skills and being actively involved in patient care. Our goal is to maintain a practice where nurses are trusted to use their knowledge, take initiative and contribute meaningfully to the clinical team.

Location:

Located on the Essex coast, Clacton-on-Sea offers beautiful beaches, coastal walks and a relaxed seaside lifestyle. The town also benefits from excellent transport links via the A133 and A120, providing convenient access to Colchester, the M25 and London.

Working Hours:

Our opening hours are:

  • Monday – Friday: 9:00am – 7:00pm
  • Saturday: 9:00am – 6:00pm

This role is ideally full-time (40 hours per week) with 1 in 2 Saturdays on a rota basis, although part-time applications will be considered for the right candidate. There are no out-of-hours requirements.

About You:

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is a qualified Registered Veterinary Nurse with current RCVS registration
  • Are confident supporting surgical and medical cases, including anaesthesia and inpatient care
  • Clinical Coach status would be an advantage but is not essential
  • Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Is passionate about high standards of patient care and animal welfare
  • Enjoy working as part of a collaborative and supportive team

We welcome nurses with areas of clinical interest and are happy to support further development and certificates.

What We Can Offer You:

  • Salary up to £31,500 depending on experience (full-time equivalent)
  • Generous CPD allowance and support for further development
  • 5.6 weeks’ holiday
  • Contributory pension scheme
  • Paid professional memberships (RCVS, BVA, VDS)
  • In-house career development opportunities
  • Access to wellbeing and pastoral care support
  • Cycle to Work scheme
  • 20% colleague discount at Vets for Pets, Pets at Home and The Groom Room
  • Colleague Assistance Programmes including Retail Trust, Port of Call and MHFA support
