Job Description

About Unmind

Unmind is a workplace mental health platform, and we’re immensely proud of what we’ve achieved so far, taking our place in the 5% of mental health apps that are robustly evaluated through RCTs, with demonstrated efficacy.

In a nutshell, we empower employees to live more fulfilling and balanced lives, through access to trusted tools and information to measure and manage their own mental health. On top of this, we’re changing the way organisations around the world think about mental health, supporting business leaders to build data-informed wellbeing strategies that create the conditions for their employees to flourish.

A future part of our offering will be human support. We’re planning to disrupt the world of talking therapy, challenging the idea that therapy is only something to pursue when you hit crisis point, and modernising the outdated EAP approach, which we believe is inflexible and ineffective for the modern working world. Our ambitions include best-in-class ways of working for therapists, ensuring fair pay, flexible session numbers and state-of-the-art technology, and a seamless user experience, with timely access to high quality, ethical therapy that’s truly effective.

Uniting Behind Uniqueness

One of our values is “Unite Behind Uniqueness” based on the belief that humans are endlessly unique and their opportunities are equally important. In order to fulfil our mission, we want our team to represent the diversity of our users which is why we’re committed to building an inclusive workplace where we encourage everyone to bring their whole selves to work. We strive to foster a culture where everybody feels included, heard, and equal – regardless of age, disability, gender, neurodiversity, marital or parental status, race, religion or belief, or sexual orientation.

If there are any adjustments we can make that would help improve your experience with Unmind, please do let us know when you apply or email us at talent@unmind.com.

The Role – Clinical Lead

This role will be crucial to Unmind’s success in 2023 and beyond. You’ll be at the forefont of developing our new therapy offering, ensuring it’s safe, effective and appealing to end users, therapists and organisations alike. You’ll work seamlessly with our dedicated product team, as we continue to build and iterate on the therapy platform, and you’ll liaise closely with stakeholders across the wider business to ensure that our offering meets the highest standards of excellence.

In this role, you’ll get to:

  • GROW: As an expert clinical voice, you’ll shape the therapy offering as it continues to develop, ensuring it’s best in class. You’ll collaborate with our dedicated product team to develop and oversee our digital care pathway, ensuring any user accessing Unmind therapy has a seamless experience, from the first point of access through to discharge.
  • GOVERN: Establish sound principles of clinical governance, ensuring we’re taking the utmost ethical approach to therapy, and that we’re adhering to relevant statutory guidance in each geographical locale.
  • EVALUATE: Take ownership of outcome measurement, and feedback from both therapists and users, feeding back into continuous improvement of our offering.
  • NURTURE: Grow our network of therapists globally, ensuring we recruit the highest standard of practitioners from diverse backgrounds, who can deliver effective therapy across a broad range of therapeutic modalities.
  • MANAGE: Provide line management to our small team of community managers, who lead on the recruitment, vetting and onboarding of new therapists.

Ways of Working

In this role you’ll report into our Director of Science (an experienced clinical psychologist). You’ll be part of the Science team, which is comprised of research scientists, science comms experts, and fellow psychologists. We have a strong professional identity and we’re well-established as the backbone of Unmind, working together to ensure everything we do is credible, ethical and effective. We have a solid team culture and we’re committed to excellence and innovation, striving for continuous improvement, and challenging each other to grow and learn.

Skills and Experience

We firmly believe that no one is the finished article and that there should be learning in every role you do. However, some experience in the following is important for this position:

  • Doctorate in Clinical or Counselling Psychology, with experience of delivering psychological assessment and treatment to adults with common mental health problems
  • Demonstrated excellence in mental health leadership, with at least 2 years leading digital therapy provision
  • Sound knowledge of psychological therapies, treatment modalities, and outcome measurement
  • Demonstrated excellence in stakeholder management, relationship building, and an ability to innovate at speed
  • Passionate about mental health, tech-for-good, and generally improving people’s lives
  • Comfortable working in an environment of rapid growth, constant change, and lots of unknowns
  • Hungry to make Unmind the global category leader of workplace mental health
