The Role
We’re looking for 2 passionate individuals to step into the role of Water Network Delivery Office, working across our regional hubs to support the successful delivery of our mains renewal programme.
Location of this positions:
South Manchester or Cheshire
In this role, you’ll be the key link between colleagues, contractors and stakeholders co-ordinating supply interruptions, overseeing shut-offs, and ensuring compliance every step of the way. From carrying out pre-site and risk assessment to driving quality assurance, change control and contractor communication, you’ll keep projects moving smoothly while protecting both customers and the network.
What You Will Be Doing:
- Pre-site preparation & planning: Attend and support pre-site meetings, surveys and programme delivery reviews to validate models, scopes and delivery readiness, ensuring the lowest-cost solutions and addressing issues.
- Risk & safety management: Lead the completion of Operational Risk Assessments (ORA) conduct on-site appraisals, and act as the Responsible Person under UU work authorisation. Carry out audits and assurance checks to maintain compliance, escalate risks or non-conformances promptly, and safeguard against high-risk activities.
- Field operations & delivery: Act as the controlling mind for high-risk supply interruptions and restoration works, coordinating with inspectors and partners to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient delivery in line with regulatory standards. Support enabling works, commissioning, and a range of operational activities across the water network.
- Supply interruption management: Work with projects teams to plan and record supply interruptions, ensure timely communication with stakeholders, and monitor restoration perfor4mance, escalating risks as needed.
- Quality assurance and change control: Provide on-site assurance to ensure compliance with UU Asset Standards, approved designs, and construction quality expectations. Ensure that any changes to scope are identified, documented, and communicated to the relevant UU teams in line with contractual obligations.
- Project Commissioning & Closeout: Collaborate on project planning to ensure safe and efficient delivery, support handover to operations including snag walk-offs, and maintain accurate project documentation and archiving.
- Stakeholder & team coordination: Engage with contractors, operations and delivery teams to ensure effective service connection and delivery, manage site activities and risks, implement operational and technical changes, and support handover into ongoing service.
What We Are Looking For:
- Strong proven technical know-how with experience in network project engineering.
- Technically competent with a high level of expertise in Street Works practices and legislation.
- Strong understanding of water network construction, operation, and maintenance, supported by extensive field-based experience.
- In-depth knowledge of operational risk assessments, method statements, and relevant water industry regulations.
- Demonstrated ability to apply technical knowledge in both planned and reactive operational environments.
