Job Purpose

  • To support and develop UU’s strategic direction for water related activities across the Water business.
  • To develop policies and strategies that support excellent service, add value and support long-term stewardship for raw water, such as reservoirs, and water treatment assets.
  • To integrate strategies into wider business plans such as the drought plan, WRMP and Price Reviews.

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Support effective horizon scanning for the function, from collation and analysis of drivers through to producing communication materials.
  • Assist in the development, maintenance, communication and embedment of water strategies.
  • Support the development of all the Price Review Business Plan data and documents across water. Includes coordination of contributors, collation and storage of content, analysis for designing performance commitments, supporting preparation of cost adjustment claims and comprehensive data validation.
  • Support the preparations for national meetings.
  • Sponsorship of agreed investigations and R&D associated with achieving targets, as defined by strategies. Support the Strategy Development Manager with national research projects.
  • Support AMP8 programme build across the water business, including the analysis/evaluation of risk and benefit based on investment decision tools such as MyRisk.
  • Provide technical support to enable regional risk assessments and asset planning.
  • Own and deliver the Performance Commitment regulatory reporting process for Water treatment PC’s.
  • Subject matter expert on relevant ODIs, populating the tables and associated methodologies/performance and compliance statements in a timely manner as well as developing the appropriate audit trails on a 6, 9 month and full year basis.
  • Work across functional areas including Water Network Plus and Water resources Price controls, primarily associated with raw water and water process assets, to provide timely data and information to relevant stakeholders.

What We Are Looking For:

  • Degree or equivalent in a numerate or technical discipline, or extensive experience of the water sector.
  • Relevant experience and a good knowledge of water and associated practices, techniques, strategies and the operation of raw water assets, such as reservoirs and raw water pumping stations and water process assets and business procedures.
  • Excellent analytical reasoning, time management skills, financial awareness and communication skills.
    Computer literate across Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, Excel, Sharepoints and preferably familiar with GIS.
  • Strong data and information handling and analytical skills to draw appropriate conclusions from relevant data.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and be comfortable dealing with people externally and from across the organisation including the ability to challenge data and reporting decisions where necessary.
  • Good organisational skills to ensure that work is prioritised and managed through to completion.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
