Job Description


The TOCC Senior Operations Control Manager is a key leadership role within TUI Airline’s Operations Control Centre (TOCC), responsible for the safe, efficient, and resilient delivery of the daily flying programme across UK & EASA AOCs.

This role leads the Operations Control team—including Network Operations Managers and Controllers - ensuring real-time decisionmaking, disruption recovery, and regulatory compliance. As the senior escalation point for operational issues, the role provides 24/7 on-call leadership support to maintain continuity and safeguard performance, whilst upholding safety and TUI standards/brand reputation. The Senior Manager also plays a key role in shaping operational strategy, driving continuous improvement, and representing Operations Control in cross-functional forums & transformation initiatives.



We are happy to consider this role on a hybrid working model basis, with a minimum of 3 days per week onsite at our Luton office. Participation in a 24/7 on-call leadership roster is a requirement of this role.

ABOUT THE JOB

  • Lead the TOCC Operations Control team of Network Operations Managers & Controllers, driving the high performance, engagement, and development of team
  • Oversee daily flying programme delivery, monitoring and managing safety, punctuality, and cost efficiency – balancing commercial & customer needs
  • Act as senior escalation point & lead response to major incidents and crisis events as needed, coordinating with Disruption/Crisis Management teams and participating in 24/7 on-call leadership roster
  • Coordinate shift planning and resource allocation to optimise coverage and resilience through effective rostering and contingency planning
  • Ensure regulatory and safety compliance, and governance readiness, maintaining audit trails, engaging with regulatory bodies and ensuring adherence to internal & external standards
  • Drive operational resilience and continuous improvement, collaborating with the Strategy & Excellence team to identify, implement, and evaluate initiatives
  • Represent Operations Control in strategic forums & act as key TOCC interface with key stakeholders, contributing to cross-functional projects, transformation, and strategic planning sessions
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to optimise operational delivery, aligning with Crewing, Engineering, Ground Ops, and external partners to ensure seamless coordination
  • Collaborate with Performance & Analysis team to define, monitor, and improve operational KPIs, conducting trend analysis, and producing weekly performance reports to brief senior leaders
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of TOCC operational policies and procedures, reviewing and refining SOPs; ensuring best practice and supporting operational excellence initiatives
  • Responsible for delivering the Airline Crisis & Disruption Framework, coordinating framework implementation across TOCC and ensure readiness for major disruption scenarios

ABOUT YOU

  • Extensive experience in Airline Operations Control, including Irregular Operations management
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, with experience leading shift-based teams
  • Proven ability to make high-impact decisions under pressure in a dynamic environment
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Strong understanding of aviation regulations and operational safety standards
  • Experience in crisis management and operational recovery
  • Analytical mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and performance metrics
  • Familiarity with airline operations systems (e.g., AIMS, ACARS, Weather & Flight Planning tools)
