We’re looking for people who are excited about joining the Pay by Bank revolution and helping us change the way the world pays. Could this be you?

Description

We are looking for a Senior Regulatory Reporting Specialist to take ownership of our regulatory reporting across our UK and European entities. This is more than a traditional reporting role; you will be the driving force behind moving our processes from manual workflows to a highly automated, data-driven model, acting as the technical lead for our regulatory reporting platform. We need someone who can bridge the gap between complex regulatory rules and raw transactional data, building a reporting structure that scales as we grow.

In this role, you will be the primary coordinator for our regulatory reports, ensuring that our data architecture supports accurate and timely submissions. You will act as a technical architect for our reporting engine, specifically focusing on the following areas:

  • Reporting Automation: Lead the day-to-day operation of our automated reporting platform. You will design and optimise the end-to-end workflow—from data ingestion to final submission—using our automated regulatory reporting tool to reduce manual intervention.
  • Data Mapping: Create clear technical documentation that traces data from its source (both transactional and non-transactional) all the way to the final regulatory output.
  • Process Governance: Drive a structured and organised reporting approval process. You will use our automated tools to improve how reports are reviewed, signed off, and stored, ensuring a clear audit trail for all submissions.
  • Technical Liaison: Act as the primary link between Compliance and our Product and Data teams. You’ll work with data owners to make sure reporting requirements are built into the data at the source.
  • Preparation and Submission: Manage the end-to-end preparation and timely submission of all regulatory returns (EU and UK)
  • Strategic Management Information (MI): Develop and maintain internal MI reporting. You will leverage our regulatory data to provide leadership with insights into business performance, risk trends, and compliance health, ensuring our data works for the business as well as the regulator.

About you:

  • Regulatory Reporting Experience: Demonstrable solid experience in regulatory reporting within fintech, payments, or banking, including familiarity with UK and European frameworks. This should include experience in the end-to-end preparation and submission of complex regulatory returns, including Capital, Liquidity, Financial and statistical reporting.
  • Technical Skills: You are highly proficient in SQL and comfortable querying complex databases to validate the integrity of your reporting data.
  • Data Tools: You are proficient with using data visualisation tools (e.g. Looker, Quicksight, Power BI) to build automated dashboards. You also have advanced Excel skills for complex reconciliation, but view it as a secondary tool to automated, system-led solutions.
  • Data Mapping Ability: You have a talent for mapping complex data flows and can maintain a data dictionary that connects regulatory reporting definitions to our underlying data structures (raw business data) creating a single source of truth.
  • Stakeholder Influence: You are an effective communicator who can translate regulatory requirements into technical terms. You are comfortable holding data owners and product teams accountable to ensure data integrity.
  • Organisational Rigor: You have a disciplined approach to process management, with a focus on building structured approval workflows and maintaining clear audit trails.
  • Problem-Solving Resilience: You enjoy investigating data discrepancies and will proactively trace an issue to its source rather than waiting for a solution to be provided.
  • Independence: You are a self-starter who can identify data inconsistencies and work directly with internal teams to fix them without needing constant oversight

We would be particularly excited if you have:

  • Sector-Specific Knowledge: Deep experience with the reporting requirements governing Payment Institutions (PI) and E-Money Institutions (EMI), specifically regarding PSD2/PSD3 frameworks and EBA Guidelines
  • RegTech Experience: You’ve previously moved a firm from legacy spreadsheet processes to automated, AI-driven reporting platforms.
  • Advanced Data Knowledge: Deep experience using data warehouses for compliance or regulatory data modeling.
  • Scaling Experience: You’ve managed reporting for multiple international entities or helped a firm expand into new markets.
  • Technical Standards: You are familiar with formats like XML and XBRL and have experience with automated regulatory reporting solutions.
  • CESOP: Experience with CESOP reporting would be a plus.

Don’t meet all the requirements?

Multiple studies have shown that women and people of underrepresented groups are sometimes less likely to apply to jobs unless they meet every single requirement. At TrueLayer, we are committed to building a diverse workforce, so if you are excited about this role and have the essential skills, but not the entire checklist - we’d still love to hear from you!
