Job Description

As a Maintenance Technician at Tesco, you�ll play a vital role in ensuring our stores remains a safe, functional, and welcoming environment for customers and colleagues alike. You�ll be part of a skilled team responsible for carrying out planned and reactive maintenance across a range of systems and equipment, helping to keep our operations running smoothly.

Your work will directly impact the shopping experience of thousands of customers every day. You�ll use your technical expertise to identify and resolve issues efficiently, always prioritising safety, compliance, and quality.

This is a hands-on role that requires a proactive mindset, strong problem-solving skills, and a commitment to delivering high standards. Carrying out maintenance and repairs on:

  • Passenger and Goods Lifts
  • Travelators and Escalators
  • Dock Levellers
  • DDLS systems
  • Scissor Lifts
  • Back Yard Gates (BYG�s)
  • Sectional Doors
  • Roller Shutters
  • Rapid Roll Doors
  • Fire Shutters
  • Compactors and Balers
  • Pallet Stackers
  • Respond to breakdowns swiftly and effectively to minimize downtime
  • Conduct inspections, testing and certification to ensure compliance and safe operation
  • Document all maintenance activity accurately using digital reporting tools
  • Collaborate with site operations teams to ensure work is performed safely and with minimal disruption
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance maintenance procedures

Operational Skills:

  • ONC or equivalent
  • Recognised Mechanical Apprenticeship or NVQ Level 2/3
  • Full driving license
  • Health & Safety awareness
  • Communication & stakeholder management
  • Office 365 knowledge
  • Completed all technical training upskilling modules relevant to skillset �

Relevant Experience:

  • Proven experience with diverse access control and lift systems
  • Strong mechanical fault-finding and diagnostic abilities
  • Familiarity with powered doors, lifting platforms, and compacting equipment
  • Understanding of safety and regulatory requirements for workplace machinery
