We’re looking for a Financial Controller to join our Insurance and Money Services’ Finance Leadership team. You’ll be accountable for the integrity, governance and control of all financial information across Tesco Insurance and Money Services.
You’ll provide leadership across Financial Control, Treasury & Investments and Finance Systems, ensuring robust financial reporting, effective capital and liquidity management, regulatory compliance and a strong financial control environment that supports strategic decision making and protects the interests of customers, regulators, shareholders and the Board.
This role is a critical part of our organisation and aligning closely to Tesco Group, and which has a track record of year-on-year growth as well as ambitious plans to grow customer numbers and product offering over the next 5 years. You’ll report into the CFO.
What you’ll be doing• Identifying, communicating and implementing the function's strategy; explaining the relationship to the broader organisation objectives; motivating people to commit to these goals and delivering positive outcomes.• Leading the Financial Control function (covering Tesco Underwriting and Tesco Personal Finance) through senior leaders, setting the vision, operating model, priorities and control framework for the organisation. • Ensuring consistency of standards, effective governance and high levels of capability across all teams.• Finance Governance and Accounting Policy – owning the Finance governance framework across our organisation ensuring effective oversight of accounting policies, financial controls, delegated authorities and governance forums.• Delivering high-quality financial reporting and insight to our Executive, Board, Board Audit Committee and other governance forums, supporting effective decision-making and providing assurance over financial performance and controls.• Accountable for the delivery of all external financial reporting requirements, including statutory accounts, regulatory returns (PRA and FCA) and Tesco Group reporting across TPF, TU and TPFG. Provide oversight and challenge to ensure high-quality reporting, effective auditor relationships and robust governance across all legal entities.• Responsible for the reporting of accurate tax accounting and returns in accordance with HMRC guidance and legislation and ensuring that the business declares and settles all of its tax liabilities as they fall due.• Leading our Treasury and Investment team ensuring effective liquidity management, investment governance, funding strategies and management of financial risks.• Capital Management.• Regulatory and Compliance Management.
What we’re looking for: (minimum criteria) • Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).• Degree or equivalent professional qualification.• Significant senior finance leadership experience within a regulated Financial Services organisation, preferably personal lines insurance.• Ability to manage and lead across several disciplines including products, systems and technical accounting.• Extensive experience of Financial Control, Governance, External Reporting, Audit and Regulatory Reporting.• Experience leading large, multi-disciplinary finance teams through senior leaders.• Strong knowledge of insurance accounting, including IFRS 17 and regulatory reporting including Solvency II/UK.• Relevant financial services or insurance qualifications desirable.
