What you’ll do:

Many complex products, from cars to industrial machinery, need to be tailored to meet specific customer requirements. Product configuration helps make this possible by enabling businesses to create customized variations of their products without starting from scratch each time. Advanced Variant Configuration takes this process to the next level, simplifying customization and ensuring accuracy at scale.

As a senior developer, you’ll design, build, and optimize features that make product customization intuitive and reliable. You’ll tackle complex technical challenges across the full development cycle—architecting new capabilities, improving performance, and driving automation that ensures quality at scale.

• You’ll turn customer insights into product improvements, implement sustainable solutions, and strengthen our platform for the future.
• Balancing new feature delivery with technical excellence, you’ll shape both what we build and how we build it.
• Collaborating with product management, UX, and cross-functional partners, you’ll ensure we deliver real customer value.
• As an experienced voice on the team, you’ll mentor colleagues, lead knowledge-sharing, and help establish engineering practices that scale with our success.

What you bring:

Required skills

• 5–10 years of software development experience
• Experience with ABAP and its latest advancements (e.g., RESTful ABAP Programming Model), as well as proficiency in JavaScript
• Proven ability to resolve complex technical issues and contribute to architectural decisions
• Experience mentoring others and sharing expertise across teams
• Calm and effective under pressure; able to prioritize and deliver in high-demand situations
• Experience balancing reactive support work with proactive improvements
• Skilled at root-cause analysis and implementing sustainable, long-term fixes
• Strong collaboration skills with cross-functional partners
• Good English and German communication skills, both verbal and written

Optional skills

• In-depth knowledge of Variant Configuration and related business processes
• Knowledge of S/4HANA Public Cloud ecosystem
• Experience with software security principles and best practices
• Knowledge of performance optimization and tuning
