Location Requirement: this position requires the candidate to be physically present in Berlin or Garching (Munich) office; please ensure you meet this location requirement before applying. SAP supports relocation for this position and will assist successful candidates with the moving process.

ABOUT THE UNIT, PURPOSE, AND OBJECTIVES

The TCO group optimize TCO for HANA Cloud (including all HANA Database & Persistency products), to deliver enhanced price/performance for LoBs and customers on all cloud providers, driving HANA-Cloud adoption, and better overall margin for LoBs and SAP.

The TCO group drives the TCO topic holistically, including:

  • Define and develop tools for large scale data analysis using machine learning and AI for on-going insight, to drive TCO reduction.
  • Plan roadmap for cloud resources adoption, based on price/performance, capacity and demand.
  • Automatic classification and recommendations for optimal resource allocation.
  • Define and develop cloud services for smarter resource management.
  • Define and formalize the TCO methodology for SAP HD&P business-unit.
  • Collaborate with all products engineering areas, COO, as well as cloud providers.

EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS

We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated, and experienced Senior Developer and Technical Lead for the TCO team. Our group works with many different organizations and lines of business within SAP and leading cloud providers. Expect to work in a dynamic environment and team.
Some of the responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Serve as the technical lead for the TCO team
  • Plan and architect frameworks and solutions, for analyzing and improving TCO, based on large-scale operational data. Leveraging data-science, analytics frameworks and AI.
  • Work with leading cloud providers to integrate various data-sources and capabilities to reduce SAP cloud cost.
  • Define and architect best practices to reduce TCO for SAP cloud services.
  • Guide and mentor junior members of the team.
  • Work with HD&P engineering groups to embed TCO aware and optimized designs from early phases.
  • Leverage standard and cutting-edge technologies and products, such as GenAI, Agents, machine learning, HANA, etc.
  • Work in a dynamic environment, with ability to create and drive new ideas to reduce TCO, and directly influence business success, in a measurable way.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

  • Passion for data, with experience analyzing large amounts of data using modern tools.
  • B.Sc. / Eng. Degree in Computer Science, Data Science / Informatics, with excellent record (e.g., GPA 4.0).
  • Experience with public cloud architecture and cloud strategy.
  • Very strong programming and architecture experience in cloud environments.
  • At-least 3 years of relevant experience as a senior cloud developer and architect, with at-least 5 years of hands-on development experience.
  • Experience in large scale data-analysis tools (e.g. SQL, Python, machine learning and data-science frameworks).
  • Strong knowledge of cloud infrastructure, and k8s especially.
  • Team player, with proven ability to work with teams of different disciplines.
  • Experience with AI frameworks and tools is highly desired.
  • Knowledge of machine learning concepts is highly desired.
  • Fluent English is a must (both written and verbal).
  • FinOps background is an advantage.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of SAP HANA and analytics tools, preferred.
  • Experience working in and with distributed and diverse team is highly desired.
  • Required to arrive to the office 3 days a week.

WORK EXPERIENCE

We are looking for a highly skilled senior developer with architect capabilities, with 3+ years’ work experience as an architect, in addition to at-least 5 years of hands-on development experience.
