Job Description

We help the world run better
At SAP, we keep it simple: you bring your best to us, and we'll bring out the best in you. We're builders touching over 20 industries and 80% of global commerce, and we need your unique talents to help shape what's next. The work is challenging – but it matters. You'll find a place where you can be yourself, prioritize your wellbeing, and truly belong. What's in it for you? Constant learning, skill growth, great benefits, and a team that wants you to grow and succeed.

SAP Concur, market leader in integrated travel, expense and invoice management, is looking for Senior Data Scientists to help make our products even stronger through data-driven insights and AI innovation! Your responsibilities will include designing and developing machine learning models, data pipelines, and analytical solutions using various tools and technologies. You will work in a great environment with many global teams to create value for our customers, delivering high-quality and innovative data science solutions. You will also help design and ship AI-driven features (predictive models, recommendation systems, and automated analytics), ensuring they are production-ready, scalable, and compliant with privacy and fairness requirements.

Value You Deliver

  • Lead data science initiatives for complex business problems from research to production deployment

  • Design and implement end-to-end ML pipelines with advanced patterns: feature engineering, model validation, A/B testing, model monitoring, automated retraining, and performance optimization

  • Deploy and scale ML model-serving solutions (MLflow, Kubernetes-based serving, real-time inference endpoints) and optimize for accuracy, latency, and cost

  • Develop statistical models and deliver insights as part of an agile data science team

  • Mentor and lead team members by setting positive examples and technical guidance in statistical methods and ML best practices

  • Own data science solutions end-to-end, implementing scalable ML systems using AWS services like SageMaker, EMR, Redshift, and S3

  • Integrate LLM (Large Language Models), implement RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation), and develop embedding-based solutions

  • Implement advanced prompt engineering, model fine-tuning, and automated evaluation frameworks

  • Build intelligent conversational agents and leverage them to enhance user interactions through natural language understanding and context-aware responses

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a quantitative field (e.g., Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, etc.)

  • Proficient in Python with experience in ML libraries (scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, pandas, numpy)

  • MLOps mentality with understanding of model versioning, CI/CD for ML, and model observability

  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud platforms (AWS SageMaker, EC2, S3, etc.)

  • Statistical expertise in experimental design, hypothesis testing, and causal inference

  • Hands-on experience with cloud-native ML solutions and distributed computing frameworks

  • Practical experience integrating LLMs or building embedding-based solutions (OpenAI, Anthropic)

  • Experience with AI-assisted development tools (ClaudeCode, Copilot, Cline) to improve development efficiency and automated ML workflows

  • Deep understanding of MLOps concepts: model tracking, data drift detection, automated retraining, and model governance

Value Competencies:

  • Build strong relationships and a positive work environment together.

  • Grow professionally and deliver excellence with responsibility.

  • Make impact visible and recognized across the organization.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for delivering optimal solutions and challenging the status quo. To be successful in this role, you will thrive in an agile environment where teams work together toward a common goal.
