What you’ll build

We are seeking an experienced SAP BTP AI Architect to lead the design, development, and implementation of AI-driven solutions within our SAP ecosystem. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in SAP technologies, AI frameworks, and SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP), enabling the integration and operationalization of AI capabilities across enterprise landscapes.

This role will focus on architecting scalable AI solutions, enabling intelligent automation, and embedding AI-powered decision-making into business processes, while ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture, security, and data governance standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Architect and implement AI-powered solutions across SAP landscapes to enhance business processes, insights, and decision-making.
  • Design and deploy secure, scalable, and high-performing AI-enabled applications on SAP BTP.
  • Leverage SAP BTP services, including SAP AI Foundation (AI Core, AI Launchpad), Generative AI Hub, SAP AI Business Services, SAP Build, and SAP Integration Suite to build innovative enterprise solutions.
  • Design and implement Generative AI and agentic AI architectures, including Joule skills, agents, and enterprise AI copilots.
  • Design APIs, microservices, and event-driven integrations using SAP BTP tools to enable seamless interaction between SAP and non-SAP systems.
  • Utilize SAP BTP capabilities for data orchestration, analytics, machine learning model deployment, and AI lifecycle management.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (business stakeholders, architects, data scientists, and developers) to identify opportunities for AI-driven automation and innovation.
  • Define and implement AI architecture patterns, reusable frameworks, and best practices for enterprise AI adoption.
  • Ensure solutions adhere to enterprise security, data governance, and compliance standards, including responsible AI practices.
  • Optimize SAP landscapes to support AI-driven applications, intelligent automation, and agentic capabilities.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to development teams during design, development, and deployment phases.
  • Stay current with emerging AI technologies, SAP Business AI innovations, and SAP BTP advancements to drive innovation continuously.

What you bring

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, and/or 10+ years of experience in enterprise technology roles.
  • Proven experience as an SAP Architect with deep expertise in SAP BTP and AI technologies, with a deep understanding of Generative AI concepts, prompt engineering, and AI application design patterns.
  • Strong proficiency with SAP BTP services, including:
    • Joule ecosystem (Joule, Joule for Developers, Joule for Consultants)
    • SAP AI Foundation (AI Core, AI Launchpad)
    • Generative AI Hub
    • SAP AI Business Services
  • Experience building and deploying machine learning and generative AI solutions using frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or similar.
  • Hands-on expertise in Cloud Application Programming Model and RESTful ABAP Programming Model, and strong programming expertise in Python, Java, Node.js, or similar languages.
  • Familiar with Agentic AI architecture, A2A, and MCP technologies.
  • Experience with API architecture, microservices design, and event-driven architecture.
  • Working knowledge of SAP Fiori development, UI5, JavaScript, and HTML5 (desirable).
  • Understanding of data governance, security architecture, and enterprise AI best practices.
  • Strong business process acumen, with the ability to translate business challenges into scalable technical solutions.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.

  • Hands-on expertise with SAP Business AI capabilities, including:
    • SAP Joule (skills and agents), SAP Joule Studio
    • SAP AI Foundation
    • SAP Document AI
    • Joule for Developers
    • Joule for Consultants
  • Experience implementing enterprise AI architecture patterns on SAP BTP, including model lifecycle management and AI governance.
  • Expertise in cloud-native application/extension development using Cloud Application Programming Model and RESTful ABAP Programming Model.
  • SAP certifications in SAP BTP, SAP Gen AI, or related SAP technologies.
  • Experience integrating SAP S/4HANA with AI-enabled extensions on SAP BTP.
  • Strong expertise in SAP BTP application development, security, and cloud architecture.
  • Experience with MLOps, AI observability, and responsible AI frameworks.

Compensation Range Transparency: SAP believes the value of pay transparency contributes towards an honest and supportive culture and is a significant step toward demonstrating SAP’s commitment to pay equity. SAP provides the annualized compensation range inclusive of base salary and variable incentive target for the career level applicable to the posted role. The targeted annual combined range for this position is 151,900 - 258,300. The actual amount to be offered to the successful candidate will be within that range, dependent upon the key aspects of each case which may include education, skills, experience, scope of the role, location, etc. as determined through the selection process. Any SAP variable incentive includes a targeted dollar amount and any actual payout amount is dependent on company and personal performance.
