SAP Architecture Advisor Insurance (f/m/d) Customer Advisory Switzerland
Job Description
We help the world run better
At SAP, we keep it simple: you bring your best to us, and we'll bring out the best in you. We're builders touching over 20 industries and 80% of global commerce, and we need your unique talents to help shape what's next. The work is challenging – but it matters. You'll find a place where you can be yourself, prioritize your wellbeing, and truly belong. What's in it for you? Constant learning, skill growth, great benefits, and a team that wants you to grow and succeed.
THE OPPORTUNITY
The insurance industry is facing a structural transformation. Cost pressure is increasing, customers expect more seamless services, regulation continues to evolve, and AI is changing how work is done across the insurance value chain. The challenge is no longer whether to adopt AI, but how to integrate it responsibly into the processes that run the business. This requires clear architectural choices across applications, data, integration, and governance. SAP has a unique opportunity to support this transformation because it combines enterprise process depth, business data context, and industry knowledge with solutions across the value chain. As an SAP Architecture Advisor, you will be at the forefront of change. With our customers, you will identify opportunities and turn their Autonomous Enterprise ambition into value-driven architecture decisions and future-ready roadmaps.
PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES
We are looking for a leader with deep insurance expertise to support customers in the Swiss insurance industry in their digital and AI-enabled transformation by defining a shared SAP Autonomous Enterprise vision, jointly designing future business capabilities and processes, and deriving the target architecture and transformation roadmap required to realize that vision. You inspire customers and prospects to innovate with us by making the benefits of SAP's capabilities tangible.
As an Architecture Advisor for insurance, you will develop your assigned customers together with your sales and post-sales counterparts, as well as our partner ecosystem. Architecture Advisors bridge the gap between the customer's business strategy and relevant solutions by crafting to-be business and solution architectures and designing an enterprise-level transformation roadmap. You help customers adopt Clean Core-based cloud architectures, SAP Business Suite capabilities, and AI-enabled operating models. Your success depends on your understanding of industry trends, your knowledge of the customer's current situation, your knowledge of our solution portfolio, and your ability to develop a compelling value proposition for the customer.
You need to build rapport with very different stakeholders at all levels of the customer organization. You can never be successful alone in this role, so teamwork should be part of your DNA. You know how to handle pressure and manage multiple engagements simultaneously.
EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS
Lead key customer engagements in the Swiss insurance market as a trusted architecture advisor — from initial discovery through roadmap design and adoption.
Shape and communicate the SAP Autonomous Enterprise vision by defining the future-state business capabilities, target architecture, AI adoption path, and phased transformation roadmap required to move from current-state complexity to an intelligent, adaptive, and scalable enterprise architecture.
Design and position the SAP Business AI platform and agentic AI use cases — from underwriting automation and claims processing to fraud detection and customer self-service — translating AI capabilities into quantified business value and concrete deployment roadmaps.
Map SAP solution capabilities to insurance-specific business requirements across core lines — property & casualty, life, health, and reinsurance — and demonstrate the end-to-end value proposition of RISE and GROW with SAP.
Apply Responsible AI design practices: embed governance guardrails, auditability, and safety controls into every AI architecture recommendation. Swiss and EU regulatory requirements (ICS, FINMA guidance, EU AI Act applicability) are not afterthoughts — build them in from the start.
Build and maintain a strong network within the SAP insurance community and the Swiss partner ecosystem; define and manage joint go-to-market activities.
Contribute to demand generation as Industry Lead — challenge customers with new ideas, inspire innovation, and identify cross-sell opportunities grounded in architectural insight.
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
Professional skills
Business acumen — ability to frame architecture in terms of insurance business outcomes, not technology for its own sake.
Influencing without authority — earning buy-in across diverse stakeholders at all levels.
Strategic thinking — connecting near-term architecture decisions to long-term competitive positioning.
Complex problem solving — navigating ambiguous, multi-stakeholder transformation challenges.
Emotional intelligence — building trust across cultures, hierarchies, and organizational pressures.
Core AI skills
Agentic AI day-to-day practice — integrating autonomous AI agents into professional workflows.
Context engineering — designing and optimizing inputs to AI models within governed workflows.
AI-assisted automation and prototyping — translating business intent into AI-enabled solutions.
AI adoption capability — driving human–AI collaboration and workflow adaptation.
AI output quality assurance — assessing correctness, safety, and bias in AI-generated outputs.
Job-profile skills
Business architecture — designing organizational capabilities and process architectures aligned to insurance transformation goals.
Customer engagement — building advisory relationships that go beyond the transactional.
Industry analysis — understanding Swiss and European insurance market dynamics, regulatory environment, and competitive landscape.
AI value selling — positioning AI solutions in terms of loss ratios, combined ratios, claims cycle times, and customer lifetime value — not just technical features.
Strategic AI synthesis — distilling complex AI analyses into clear, executive-ready recommendations and architecture decisions.
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum a bachelor's degree or equivalent.
Outstanding communication and presentation skills in German and English, both written and spoken; French and Swiss German are additional assets.
In-depth knowledge of the SAP solution suite, with an insurance background.
Knowledge of enterprise architecture management methodologies and tools, such as TOGAF and LeanIX.
Proven experience driving tangible enterprise architecture outcomes for customers.
Functional leadership and project management experience is an advantage.
Strong interpersonal and team skills at all levels, ideally in multicultural environments.
Strong business acumen and understanding of SAP business strategy, solutions, partners, markets, and competition.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to de-escalate difficult situations.
Open-mindedness and ability to quickly adapt to new requirements.
Strong execution mindset and proven “can do / will do” attitude.
Ability to position SAP Business AI solutions in terms of insurance-specific business outcomes, such as loss ratios, combined ratios, and claims cycle times.
WORK EXPERIENCE
5+ years in enterprise architecture, presales, consulting, or business development — with demonstrated outcomes in customer-facing roles.
Proven experience in insurance-specific business processes: policy management, claims, actuarial, distribution, and/or reinsurance.
Experience engaging executive stakeholders and translating business priorities into architecture decisions.
Exposure to agile delivery frameworks and managing multiple parallel engagements.
