The Role:

The Local Reporting and Tax Compliance (LRTC) Organization is responsible for tax returns and tax and financial accounting, for SAP subsidiaries worldwide. The LRTC organization belongs to the CFO Board area and is directly assigned to the Chief Accounting Officer of SAP within Global Accounting, Reporting and Tax (GAR&T).

In this position, you will be leading LRTC team members responsible for preparation of tax returns, tax accounting and financial reports, in some regions. You will engage with several senior stakeholders in GAR&T and CFO Board area, in cross-functional projects, contribute to automation initiatives, and gain exposure to complex topics. As a people manager, you will coach and support your team members in achieving their goals, conduct performance reviews, set priorities, and foster continuous development. You will also play a pivotal role in shaping the team’s future by hiring, onboarding, and integrating new talents, while creating a culture of collaboration, accountability, and growth.

Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & people development: Lead and develop a team of ~8-10 tax and finance professionals, ensuring high performance and compliance with SAP's standards.
  • Oversee, supervise and review preparation of financial reporting: Provide direction and review of the preparation of statutory financial statements in accordance with IFRS and relevant local GAAPs.
  • Oversee, supervise and review preparation of Tax Returns: Provide direction and review of CIT, VAT, WHT, and other local tax returns, ensuring compliance with local tax and statutory regulations and global policies, and proactively managing risks.
  • Oversee, supervise and review Tax Accounting: Ensure accurate maintenance and reconciliation of tax accounts in line with IAS 12, providing guidance on complex tax accounting matters.
  • Oversee and govern external tax consulting companies: Plan and manage external tax compliance service providers, from leading RfPs, negotiating scope and fees, signing contracts, aligning timelines, governing budget and actual expenses.
  • Collaboration: Build strong partnerships with International Tax and Local Tax Managers, Group Tax Reporting, Transfer Pricing Team, M&A Teams, Global Purchase Organisation, Global Process Management, CFOs, Local Chief Accountants, Treasury, Controlling, Government and Tax Authorities, internal and external auditors.
  • Continuous improvement: Drive automation and standardization of tax returns and financial reports preparation in accordance with SAP's strategy to streamline processes, improve efficiency, and ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Tackle complexity: Provide thought leadership and solutions and dive into complex topics like hyperinflation, M&As, transfer pricing, global minimum tax, etc.
  • Technical analysis: Lead and guide preparation of technical memorandums to address scenarios supporting the rationale for the accounting and tax treatments at the subsidiary level.

Role Requirements:

  • University degree in tax, finance, accounting, or audit
  • Deep professional experience in tax compliance, tax accounting, financial reporting, and application of IFRS.
  • Proven leadership experience, ideally managing multicultural teams in a global environment.
  • Able to articulate viewpoints with excellent communication skills.
  • Assertive and able to work both independently and within a global team.
  • Qualified tax advisor or accountant with at least 8 to 10 years of hands-on experience in preparing and/or auditing financial statements and tax returns—Big Four experience is a plus.
  • Excellent in MS Excel, knowledge of accounting and tax-related functionalities in SAP ERP is a plus.
  • Fluent in spoken and written English (other languages are a plus).
