Job Description

We help the world run better
At SAP, we keep it simple: you bring your best to us, and we'll bring out the best in you. We're builders touching over 20 industries and 80% of global commerce, and we need your unique talents to help shape what's next. The work is challenging – but it matters. You'll find a place where you can be yourself, prioritize your wellbeing, and truly belong. What's in it for you? Constant learning, skill growth, great benefits, and a team that wants you to grow and succeed.

What you will work on:

We are looking for a (Mid to Senior) Python Software Developer interested in growing their skillset into the gen/agenticAI space. You will learn the necessary skills over time to drive (gen)AI development and lead a dedicated engineering scrum team as technical code and architecture owner. You must bring an exceptional base layer of Python Software Engineering Skills and a radical learning mindset for new (AI) topics.

The Role:

You’ll collaborate with engineers, the AI platform teams, and stakeholders to help move AI projects from proof-of-concept to production with mentorship from experienced AI engineers. You’ll own component- and project-level code and architecture, implement integrations into our AI-first tech stack, and help ensure strong design, testing, and deployment practices. Prior AI experience is not mandatory — we value strong Python and engineering fundamentals, curiosity about generative AI, and a commitment to learning on the job.

Responsibilities:

  • Operationalize proofs-of-concept into robust, production-quality AI services, ensuring scalability and maintainability with platform and business partners
  • Prototype and design GenAI/agentic solutions that meet business needs
  • Implement CI/CD, testing, deployment, monitoring, and MLOps/LLMOps practices
  • Own component- and project-level code, architecture, and production reliability
  • Mentor junior engineers and promote practical AI engineering best practices
  • Continuously develop AI engineering expertise by learning new skills and applying them to improve solutions, tooling, and operational practices

What you bring:

  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
  • Strong Python skills
  • Experience with backend frameworks (Flask, Django, FastAPI, etc.)
  • Solid grasp of software engineering principles and agile teamwork
  • Familiarity with tools like Docker, Kubernetes, GitHub, VSCode, Linux
  • Exposure to CI/CD and ML Ops (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, MLFlow)
  • Cloud experience (Azure ML, Databricks, AWS/GCP equivalents)
  • Fluent English and a collaborative mindset
  • Understanding of Agile/SAFe methodologies

Nice to have but not a must:

  • Knowledge of Distributed Computing Systems for Big Data Engineering such as Databricks (PySpark/Scala)
  • Hands-on experience with genAI / agenticAI frameworks such as crewAI, langgraph, etc.
  • Expertise in code-based LLM consumption from platforms like OpenAI or Huggingface
  • Curiosity to explore different AI applications and emerging technologies
  • Experience with SAP AI offerings such as AI Core, AI Business Services, Joule

These skills are a plus. If you don’t have experience in all these areas— we’ll provide the resources and training you need to become a leader in cutting-edge AI technologies.

Where you belong:

SAP’s CPIT Product, Data & Technology organization—our tech powerhouse and internal trailblazer. As SAP’s reference customer, we shape product strategy and fuel enterprise transformation with real-world insights.
