Role Overview
- Are you passionate about the transformative power of cloud data and analytics? Are you ready to help SAP customers redefine how to harness the potential of SAP Business Data Cloud, advanced analytics and AI?
- As a Principal BDC Business Process consultant you will play the role of the trusted advisor of Data Architecture to our most significant customers, and provide thought leadership towards customers’ corporate data vision and strategy to gain maximum business value for their enterprise data.
- Drive customers for the enterprise adoption of SAP’s Business Data Cloud as the foundation for advanced analytics and AI and to help organizations adopt data product–driven architectures using SAP best practices. You will define long-range architectural strategy, influence C-suite decision-making, and safeguard the integrity of complex, cross-platform data landscapes. In this role, you lead customers through pivotal architectural choices, mitigate high-impact risks, and shape the data vision that positions BDC as a mission-critical business capability.
Key Responsibilities
- Position SAP BDC as the enterprise data foundation driving analytics, AI, and “data gravity” back to SAP.
- Serve as a strategic, trusted advisor on data and analytics strategy and data architecture for executives and project leaders.
- Define and communicate long-term data architectural vision and roadmaps; drive high-impact design decisions.
- Establish data architectural guardrails, govern adherence, and manage trade-offs and technical debt.
- Guide customers through complex project situations and mitigate architectural risks.
- Coordinate with SAP delivery teams and contribute to C-level and steering committee reporting.
- Design customer-specific data architectures, milestones, and quality gates for major programs.
Education, Skills & Competencies
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or Business.
- 15+ years in customer facing consulting roles with experience in enterprise architecture or pre-sales advisory roles.
- Proven expertise in solution architecture and design for large-scale data and analytics platforms, ideally within the SAP ecosystem.
- Experience designing and governing large-scale SAP or enterprise data architectures.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, guide, and instruct teams across regions and, where required, globally, fostering knowledge transfer and capability uplift.
- Solid understanding of cloud concepts, data architecture, and enterprise data management.
- Strong understanding of cloud operations, platform stacks, and hyperscalers (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Knowledge of ITSM, service design, compliance, and cybersecurity principles.
- Executive communication, influence, and storytelling for technical and business audiences.
- Advanced critical thinking and complex problem-solving.
- Strategic thought leadership and ability to shape long-term customer direction.
- Objection handling and value-based advisory skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build trust across senior stakeholders.
SAP-Specific Knowledge
- Strong knowledge of SAP data and analytics solutions (such as SAP Analytics Cloud, SAP Datasphere, SAP HANA Cloud, or similar platforms), with the ability and motivation to rapidly learn and apply new SAP Business Data Cloud capabilities.
- Expertise in areas such as BDC, Datasphere, BW Modernization, SAP HANA Cloud, and SAC.
- Strong cross-application understanding (S/4HANA, Ariba, Concur, Fieldglass, SCM, SuccessFactors).
- Experience with MDG, Databricks integration, Industry Cloud, Sustainability, and AI solutions.
- Prior SAP consulting and enterprise architecture experience.
Beneficial
- Experience with modern data platforms such as Databricks and/or Snowflake.
- Hands-on experience in artificial intelligence (AI), particularly with SAP Business AI or similar enterprise AI solutions.
- Experience in business planning and financial processes (e.g., SAP BPC, SAP Planning, or similar solutions).
- Knowledge of ABAP programming and its application within SAP data and analytics environments.
