Job Description
We help the world run better
At SAP, we keep it simple: you bring your best to us, and we'll bring out the best in you. We're builders touching over 20 industries and 80% of global commerce, and we need your unique talents to help shape what's next. The work is challenging – but it matters. You'll find a place where you can be yourself, prioritize your wellbeing, and truly belong. What's in it for you? Constant learning, skill growth, great benefits, and a team that wants you to grow and succeed.
What you'll build
As a (Junior) Cloud-Native Developer (f/m/d), you will join the team building and scaling the critical backend infrastructure for the SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP). Your work will directly contribute to how thousands of developers run their applications. In this role, you’ll grow your cloud-native skills by contributing to services that are essential to SAP's strategy, working alongside senior experts in a highly collaborative environment.
- Develop and operate the scalable microservices that form the backbone of the SAP Business Technology Platform.
- Implement and maintain features for the central API gateway, helping to manage traffic, security, and observability.
- Enhance our core Kubernetes infrastructure by developing features that improve the deployment experience for developers using the SAP Business Application Studio.
- Adopt a "you build it, you run it" philosophy by taking ownership of your features from code to deployment. This includes participating in on-call rotations to guarantee 24/7 service reliability for our customers.
- Grow your technical capabilities by collaborating closely with senior engineers, actively learning, and applying best practices.
What you bring
- Degree in Computer Science or a related field and 2+ years of professional development experience. We also invite outstanding graduates with strong foundational skills to apply.
- Proficiency in a backend language like Go (Golang), C++, Java, or Node.js. Go is preferred.
- Familiarity with cloud-native paradigms, including container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Knowledge of CI/CD best practices and experience with tools like Jenkins, or similar.
- Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools for distributed systems such as Elastic Stack, Prometheus, Grafana, or Dynatrace.
- Experience deploying applications on cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Fluent English language skills, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
Beneficial
- Knowledge of computer networking concepts, particularly in relation to large-scale network traffic.
Where you belong
You will join our skilled engineering team located in Berlin, Germany. While your immediate team is local, you'll collaborate with peer teams in Israel.
Our team fosters a highly collaborative and agile culture built on pair programming, test-driven development (TDD), and continuous delivery. This is a workplace where you will own services critical to SAP's success, work with cutting-edge open-source technologies, and grow your career alongside a supportive team of cloud experts. We are committed to your development and provide opportunities for mentorship, learning, and career progression.
