Job Title: Development Principal Consultant (multiple positions available)

Purpose and Objective:

SAP America, Inc. seeks a Development Principal Consultant (multiple positions available) at our Newtown Square, PA location to create concepts for interfaces, extensions/enhancements and in general development projects.

Expectations and Tasks:

Reinforce that the SAP Cloud Platform is the unique integration and extension platform. Leverage the capabilities of the Business Technology Platform (BTP). Support the transformation towards the Intelligent Enterprise. Analyze feasibility for new and changed services/interfaces. Define specification of integration scenarios based on customer business processes. Implementation and coding of services and interfaces as well a coaching or partners in implementation. Planning and coordination of integration tests. Review of integration and development concepts in accordance with SAP’s strategy of the Business Technology Platform. Support end-to-end design of integration concepts (OnPremise, Cloud and Hybrid), applying state-of-the-art methodologies. Support for solution proposals and bid management. Taking over responsibility from time to time as a (sub-)project lead. Takes responsibility from time to time as team lead and supports respective line manager(s) in people development tasks. Delivers customer workshops and trainings. Fill solution gaps with individual development components or integration with non-SAP components. Provide advice about preferred technology trends within BTP development. Support design of development projects. Secure appliance of BTP-standards. Design and implantation of composites and applications. Design and integration of non-SAP components.

Qualifications

Education and Occupational Experience:

Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field of study and seven (7) years of progressive post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or related occupation. Alternatively, a Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field of study and five (5) years of experience in the job offered or related occupation.

Qualifications/Skills and Competencies Experience:

Experience must include three (3) years involving each of the following:

• Designing, developing and implementing integrations with SAP BTP Integration Suite or Cloud Platform Integration in SAP innovation areas and SAP BTP technologies including SAP Application Link Enabling (ALE), SAP Intermediate Document (IDoc), XML, SOAP, OData, REST, JSON Webservices, ABAP Server and Client Proxies, or Remote Function Modules;

• Supporting and Implementing Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) and Business to Business (B2B) Integrations in De-escalation of critical integration projects using effective Incident Management and Root-Cause Analysis with minimal Business Outage;

• Implementing, guiding, and supervising customer’s System Integrators and vendors on Integrations with SAP BTP and various Cloud Solutions with SAP reference architectures, platform patterns, reusable components, and integration standards aligned to SAP AI strategy;

• SAP Process Integration (SAP PI) or SAP Process Orchestration (SAP PO) and Migration of SAP Process Integration (SAP PI) Dual-Stack Interfaces to SAP Process Orchestration (SAP PO) and SAP Advanced Adapter Engine Extended (SAP AEX) Single-Stack Interfaces;

• Business Requirements Gathering and Gap Analysis and thorough translation of business requirements to Interface Technical Specifications for Custom Integrations and SAP Developments;

• Leading Integration Test of SAP Integrations including Interface Unit Testing, Integration Testing, Regression Testing, Volume and Performance Testing, User Acceptance Testing, or Smoke Testing and Beta Testing;

• SAP Advanced Business Application Programming (SAP ABAP) Development in the context of enhancing the standard integration functions of SAP Business Suite 4 SAP HANA (S/4HANA) and SAP Enterprise Resource Planning; and

• Securing SAP Inbound Connections with Client Certificate-based Authentication and implementing SAP Security and Transport Layer Security (TLS).

Experience must include one (1) year involving each of the following:

• Architect agentic systems, tool orchestration, and LLM-driven workflows to support intelligent and autonomous application behaviors; and

• Bridge product vision and technical execution including translating AI use cases, concepts and strategic goals into scalable, governed architectures and actionable engineering plans for complex SAP customers for software implementation, upgrade and change management.

Travel: Position does require up to 20% domestic travel to various unanticipated customer sites for consulting services and SAP solution implementation support.

Compensation Range Transparency: The annual base salary range for this position is $160,480 - $272,720. SAP believes the value of pay transparency contributes towards an honest and supportive culture and is a significant step toward demonstrating SAP’s commitment to pay equity. SAP provides the annualized compensation range inclusive of base salary and variable incentive target for the career level applicable to the posted role. The targeted combined range for this position is $200,600 - $340,900. The actual amount to be offered to the successful candidate will be within that range, dependent upon the key aspects of each case which may include education, skills, experience, scope of the role, location, etc. as determined through the selection process. Any SAP variable incentive includes a targeted dollar amount and any actual payout amount is dependent on company and personal performance.
