Job Description

We help the world run better
At SAP, we keep it simple: you bring your best to us, and we'll bring out the best in you. We're builders touching over 20 industries and 80% of global commerce, and we need your unique talents to help shape what's next. The work is challenging – but it matters. You'll find a place where you can be yourself, prioritize your wellbeing, and truly belong. What's in it for you? Constant learning, skill growth, great benefits, and a team that wants you to grow and succeed.

What you'll do:

The Strategic Workforce and Skills Management team is seeking a Data Scientist who pairs analytical rigor with strategic influence to translate complex people data into recommendations that drive workforce and talent decisions.

  • Master Data Wrangling & Databases: You'll dive into complex organizational data structures, integrating and joining different data sources, ensuring quality and optimizing pipelines.
  • Generate Strategic Workforce Insights: Apply advanced statistical methods, machine learning, and predictive modelling to extract meaningful insights from prepared data, informing organizational development and planning.
  • Advance SAP’s Workforce Strategy: Drive the continuous evolution of workforce insights, KPIs and planning, integrating different methodologies, real-time analytics, and strategic insights. Manage stakeholders (senior executives, HR leaders, works councils) to ensure transparency and impact.
  • Translate Business Needs into Analytical Approaches: Mediate between HR leaders and data scientists by translating business questions into actionable research and analytics projects.
  • Deliver Storytelling with Data and Insights: Craft clear, persuasive narratives, aligning complex analytical findings with actionable business recommendations for non-technical audiences.
  • Contribute to Project Success: Collaborate on complex projects, contributing to end-to-end execution, ensuring timely delivery, and supporting stakeholder alignment. Affinity for agile project management (e.g., Scrum or Kanban) is helpful.

What you bring:

You are a dynamic, strategic thinker with a passion for workforce transformation and a strong focus on skills development. You bring significant expertise in HR and business management, combined with a track record of leading high-impact projects with executive visibility.

  • Exceptional Data Wrangling & Data Science Expertise: You possess strong skills in data wrangling, database management, applying statistical methods (e.g., sampling, forecasting, trend interpretation), and ML models (e.g., classification-, and clustering-based machine learning and data mining) to derive business-relevant insights. Proven proficiency in R is a significant advantage.
  • Experience and Education: Relevant experience in People Analytics, Data Science, or quantitative research roles. You hold a bachelor's or master's degree in Statistics, Computer Science, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, or a related quantitative field.
  • Strategic Thinking and Problem-Solving: You're adept at identifying trends, connecting dots, and applying innovative solutions. You have a proactive mindset to refine and evolve programs based on insights and business needs. Experience with data governance tools like Databricks is a valuable asset.
  • Storytelling with Data and Insights: Experience in linking data-driven findings to business strategy and operational decision-making. You can translate complex data into clear, compelling narratives and actionable recommendations. Building dashboards is a useful skill.
  • Stakeholder Management & Business Acumen: Proven ability to collaborate across all organizational levels and manage stakeholder relationships, including senior management and executives, as well as social partners. Experience in managing expectations and influencing decision-making.
  • Team Player with a Growth Mindset: You are an absolute team player with a strong growth mindset, thriving in an open feedback culture and willing to take ownership to get things over the finish line. Psychological safety is paramount to our team's success.
  • Fluency in English is essential, and German is an advantage.
