Job Description
We help the world run better
At SAP, we keep it simple: you bring your best to us, and we'll bring out the best in you. We're builders touching over 20 industries and 80% of global commerce, and we need your unique talents to help shape what's next. The work is challenging – but it matters. You'll find a place where you can be yourself, prioritize your wellbeing, and truly belong. What's in it for you? Constant learning, skill growth, great benefits, and a team that wants you to grow and succeed.
Are you passionate about shaping the future of data & analytics at SAP and working in the cloud? Join a highly motivated, international team at the forefront of analytics and data within SAP’s IT organization. We’re seeking a Data & Analytics Engineer with 3–5 years of experience to drive our cloud transformation, own end-to-end delivery of data products, and bridge strategic business needs with cutting-edge technology.
Your primary tasks include:
- Own the end-to-end lifecycle of data products and analytical solutions—from discovery and design to build, deployment, and support—based on business priorities and performance constraints.
- Define and implement best-practice architectures and analytical data models using Business Data Cloud (BDC), SAP HANA Cloud, SAP Datasphere, and Databricks.
- Translate and challenge business requirements for value, effort, and complexity; define acceptance criteria and deliver scalable, maintainable solutions.
- Design, build, and optimize ELT/ETL pipelines using SQL and Python (Databricks), integrating SAP and non-SAP data sources.
- Establish and uphold engineering standards (version control, code reviews, CI/CD, automated testing, data quality/observability, and cost/performance optimization).
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve issues in existing reporting and data content; propose and implement improvements that deliver measurable business value.
- Collaborate in an agile Scrum team
- Ensure robust data governance, security, and compliance (RBAC, lineage, metadata management) across Datasphere, SAC, and related platforms.
- Partner closely with product owners and business stakeholders to enable self-service analytics and trusted data consumption.
Skills & Experience:
- Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of hands-on experience in analytics engineering, data modeling, or data engineering delivering production-grade data products.
- Strong analytical data modeling and architecture skills (dimensional/semantic modeling, star schema) and performance tuning on HANA Cloud/Datasphere.
- Proficiency with SAP Datasphere and SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC); practical experience designing models, views, semantic layers, and SAC stories/dashboards.
- Experience with at least two of the following: SAP BDC, SAP HANA Cloud, SAP Datasphere; and hands-on development on Databricks using Python/PySpark and SQL (Delta Lake experience a plus).
- Solid software engineering practices: Git-based workflows, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and documentation.
- Experience working in Scrum/agile teams with the ability to lead sub-initiatives and collaborate across functions.
- Familiarity with SAP business processes (e.g., Finance, Procurement, Sales) is a plus.
- Knowledge of data governance, cataloging, security, and privacy best practices.
- Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
