Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity to become part of the team, delivering an amazing visitor experience at RSPB South Stack. You will be based at the stunning RSPB South Stack Cliffs Visitor Centre in Holyhead, Anglesey. You will need your own transport as it’s a little off the beaten track.

What’s the role about?

You will be working as part of the Visitor Experience team, responsible for welcoming visitors to our site. You will be engaging with visitors and delivering the highest standards of customer service at all times. You will inspire visitors to make the most of their visit and to maximise financial and moral support for the RSPB. You will be a friendly, outgoing person with excellent communication skills and a real passion for nature.

Key activities will include:

  • Helping to manage the overall visitor experience from arrival to departure as required.
  • Enthusing and inspiring the public to become members of the RSPB, ensuring that agreed membership recruitment targets and KPIs are achieved.
  • Helping to plan, promote and deliver events.
  • Ensuring the visitor centre, outside areas, facilities and equipment are well maintained and presented to a high standard.
  • Delivering high quality activities to visiting families to meet agreed connection targets.
  • Communicating using RSPB brand values and guidelines to ensure that the RSPB brand is presented consistently and correctly.
  • Ensuring all membership administration, operating processes, security and health and safety adheres to RSPB procedures.

As a Visitor Experience Assistant, you will be a key point of contact for visitors to our site, responsible for delivering a high-quality experience and dealing with feedback, as well as promoting the work of the RSPB.

Essential skills, knowledge and experience:

  • An enthusiastic approach to work
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Problem solving skills, and the ability to work on your own initiative and under pressure
  • A genuine love of nature and interest in the work of the RSPB
  • The ability to manage and respond quickly and positively to customer needs and feedback and consistently deliver the highest standard of customer service
  • The ability to build and maintain strong working relationships, and to work as part of a team
  • The ability to plan and prioritise workloads and be able to multitask
  • Happy to work weekends and bank holidays

Desirable skills, knowledge and experience:

  • Experience of working or volunteering in a visitor attraction
  • Knowledge of health and safety in the workplace
  • Welsh speaker

This is a full time 37.5 hours per week seasonal role to start as soon as possible to the 5th November. The RSPB reserves the right to extend or make these roles permanent without further advertising dependent on business needs at the end of the contract term.
