Part-Time - Estate Worker - (Fixed Term)
Job Description
Estate Worker
Situated between the Mersey and the Manchester ship canal the Woolston eyes SSSI is home to an abundance of wildlife. The site is managed in partnership with Woolston Eyes Conservation Group (WECG) who have managed the site since the 1970s.
The four wetland beds attract large numbers of duck and waders, and the site is nationally important for breeding black neck grebe, pochard and gadwall.
As well as developing and managing the existing wetland habitat, we have recently begun an ambitious project to restore habitat for Willow Tit – one of the UK’s most declining species – with a new and exciting project funded through Natural England Species Recovery Programme. And we plan to restore over 50ha of woodland habitat through coppicing and invasive species management.
