Job Description
As the RSPB's Lead Carbon Data Analyst you will play a fundamental role in our journey towards making our charity, including its offices, reserves and projects more sustainable. The RSPB’s Strategy has ten key outcomes to 2030, including RSPB Greening. As such, your role will be significant in helping us achieve our significant ambition in this area. Monitoring our efforts to reduce GHG emissions is a key outcome measures, both from decarbonising our business operations, and by increasing the levels of GHG reduction/removal via our diverse land management activities.
This role will support the RSPB in reviewing & strengthening its data collection tools, calculators and Greenhouse Gas (GHG) and environmental reporting systems, also identifying appropriate software solutions for RSPB. The role will support the delivery of compliance reporting, and improve the accuracy of internal accounting for both business GHG emissions and land use and removals GHG accounting. Although you will be primarily working from home, there may be some travel to our offices and reserves.
What's the role about?
You will collaborate with various internal and external stakeholders to provide technical recommendations and specifications for adoption. As well as supporting colleagues within the wider RSPB, you will work independently to deliver work packages and continual improvement. The postholder will support the RSPB with our internal targets and with ESOS and any other deliverables.
You will provide technical insight to direct activity and improvement plans, review and develop energy consumption data and support the delivery of wider energy/carbon reduction projects and plans.
Essentials
- Masters degree in Carbon or Environmental Management or similar or equivalent experience
- Expert knowledge of industry-standard and best practice methodologies for accounting, foot printing and reporting
- Negotiation, problem solving and influencing others, with an ability to resolve conflicting priorities and co-ordinate approaches across diverse teams
- Ability to handle data, analyse and present it in powerful ways
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and able to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Ability to build rapport quickly, creating positive and productive relationships with stakeholders
- Reviewing, embedding and utilising carbon analytical software
- Analysing consumption data, benchmarking, carbon budgeting, climate strategy, foot printing, energy management and carbon reduction plans.
- Managing complex projects across highly dispersed geographic areas
- Managing carbon and environmental data services within a large organisation
Desirables
- At least 5 years of relevant work experience
- Developing carbon analytical software
- Experience of biogenic GHG accounting
Additional Information
This is a Fixed-Term role for 18 months working 37.5 hours per week. The RSPB reserves the right to extend or make this role permanent without further advertising dependent on business needs at the end of the contract term.
