Content and Creative Traffic Manager

Employment type:  Full time
Salary:  £30,940 – £33,215 per annum

Job Description

As the Content and Creative Traffic Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient reception, prioritising, allocation and flow of work through the Content and Creative Team. This includes teams working in the fields of copywriting, design and graphics, multimedia and video, digital content management and social media.

You will both manage and have oversight of work requests coming in from multiple sources, and ensure we have the right people working on the right things at the right time. You will be the main point of contact for colleagues across the organisation when submitting requests for creative, brand and marketing support and will therefore have excellent stakeholder management skills to be able to deal with any questions or issues as they arise.

We're looking for someone who can remain calm when under pressure, who is able to juggle multiple activities at any one time and who can instil confidence and trust in colleagues across the organisation, at all levels. Someone who is comfortable 'holding the line' when presented with challenges and who can find solutions quickly. A supportive partner to the content and creative team managers who understands what it takes to get good work done. This role would suit someone from a design and branding background with experience of workflow management or account management.

This role will play a critical part in helping our teams operate effectively, balancing the need for longer-term, planned work alongside more reactive comms delivery.

Main responsibilities

  • Liaise directly with key stakeholders across the organisation to gather requirements for brand, marketing and communications work, collaborating with the Communications Delivery Manager to compile an annual delivery plan.
  • Ensure all work coming into the Content and Creative Team has come through the correct route with the expected governance and oversight.
  • Work with the Communications Delivery Manager and Communications Campaign Planner to assess incoming work via a weekly Triage meeting, to make sure scope and timings are as agreed, keeping our communications planning team informed.
  • Ensure all briefs coming into the Content and Creative Team are allocated appropriately. Work with the Communications Delivery Manager, and Content and Creative team managers to make sure all necessary information is present.
  • Ensure all brand and communications work is planned in to meet required deadlines, working collaboratively with the Strategic Communications Team and/or Communications Delivery Manager to produce schedules/time plans.
  • Work with relevant team managers to manage work dependencies and resolve any work conflicts or capacity issues, escalating where necessary to the Communications Delivery Manager.
  • Provide regular reporting for the Head of Planning and Delivery, and Head of Content and Creative, to offer insight and analysis on the efficiency and effectiveness of our resource management.
  • Support the Communications Delivery Manager to implement, communicate and measure improvements to processes and workflow management.
  • Responsible for the day-to-day management of the freelance budget, taking the lead from the Head of Planning and Delivery to place work as appropriate with freelancers, escalating any issues and concerns where necessary.

Essential Experience, skills and capabilities

  • Demonstrable experience of working with design and digital creative teams in either a design or brand agency, or within a large, complex organisation.
  • Proven experience of managing creative or communications workflow for multiple teams, managing time and resource.
  • Strong understanding of both waterfall and agile methodologies and how to manage resource appropriately for both.
  • Ability to start and finish tasks and projects, taking a solution focused approach.
  • Strong people management skills and the ability to work collaboratively with peers and colleagues.
  • Effective written and communication skills.
  • Ability to use initiative and judgement to resolve problems independently.
  • Ability to influence others and explain/discuss concepts and ideas.
  • Experience of working independently and resolving unforeseen issues and challenges.

Desirable experience

  • Work management systems
  • Working within a charity organisation
