Job Title: Supplier Quality Engineer


Location: Komaki (MHIAEL), Japan or Nishi-akashi (KHI), Japan

We are looking for a Supplier Quality Engineer (External Supply Chain) to join our global team. This role can be based in either Komaki (MHIAEL), Japan or Nishi-akashi (KHI), Japan and will focus on supporting manufacturing processes and continuous improvement for Zero Defect across our Risk & Revenue Sharing Partners base.

You will provide technical support to manufacturing operations, ensuring processes meet our safety, quality, cost, delivery rate and lead time objectives (SQCD). This is a vital role in maintaining the high standards of Rolls-Royce products and in enabling our suppliers to deliver Right First Time.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Support and lead the deployment of the Quality and Safety Strategy for the aligned region within the business area to achieve its goals, enhance its reputation and deliver customer satisfaction.
  • Support the development and deployment of Quality capability (skills & Knowledge) and culture of the aligned business to meet future regulatory, customer requirements.
  • Deploy metrics, key performance indicators to ensure appropriate governance and support is in place within the business to drive Quality performance to meet the requirements, business goals and enhance its reputation.
  • In support of the Assurance plan and in partnership with risk owners, provide proactive assurance that regulatory, business and customer requirements will be met.
  • To drive change to the Operating System (process, culture & leadership governance and risk) and SABRe to mitigate risks, maximise effectiveness and eliminate cost/waste through insight obtained from proactive assurance and problem themes.
  • Protect the business and customer through performing, managing and coaching of problem containment and resolution, to minimise impact and to ensure the necessary corrective and preventative actions are completed and verified in a timely manner.
  • Drive Supplier performance using a Zero Defects culture, through use of the Integrated Supplier Scorecard (ISS), conducting Supplier Maturity Assessments (SMA) and utilising Supplier Engagement Plans (SEP) / Quality Improvement Plan (QIP) to improve / manage gaps.

Qualifications:

  • A degree in Engineering is preferred.
  • Competent in improvement and problem-solving methodologies. (e.g. Six Sigma, 8D)
  • Has led projects/activities across a range of Quality processes.
  • Ability to effectively influence and challenge appropriately internally and externally at all levels.
  • Strong customer focus and stakeholder management.
  • Experience supporting or managing external suppliers is an advantage.
