We have an exciting opportunity an enthusiastic, self-motivated leader to join the Trent 1000 & 7000 cost team as a Services Cost Officer – Delivery.
The Trent 1000 and Trent 7000, powering the Boeing 787 and the Airbus A330-neo, are two crucial widebody engine programmes for Rolls-Royce’s Civil portfolio. Within the respective value streams, the 1000/7000 cost team sit at the heart of product performance, turning technical, operational and commercial data into the decisions that improve profitability, improving customer outcomes and shaping the long-term competitiveness of the product.
In this role, you will help define robust cost strategies, baseline assumptions and cost reduction proposals that directly influence services margin, shop visit economics and lifecycle value. It is also an excellent development opportunity, offering exposure across Engineering, Operations, Finance, Commercial and Customer teams, and building the breadth, judgement and influencing skills needed to progress into more senior product, programme or business leadership roles.
What you will be doing:
The aim of the Life Cycle Cost Officer role is to support the optimisation of the cost of operation of an engine throughout its life cycle. The majority of operators for the Trent 7000 and Trent 1000 will be under Total Care service agreements. It is therefore essential that the cost base is managed to ensure that the cost of these service agreements is minimised throughout the term of the contracts, whilst maintaining Product Safety, Reliability & Customer Satisfaction.
The key accountabilities for this role are to support the Life Cycle Cost Managers within the NPI programmes to deliver the following:
- Develop a thorough understanding of the levers of value inherent in our business, and through these own and drive the financial performance of our fleets.
- Guide and drive the delivery of cost reduction initiatives to ensure a profitable and competitive product.
- Support development of Business Cases & Strategy to support key product change and deliver Business Plan objectives.
- Analyse live cost inputs (actuals/invoices) and financial information to support development and improvement of our financial forecasts.
- Develop, deploy, and support functional processes, tools, training, and systems that enable the creation of credible plans that balance availability, cost, and performance.
Preferred requirements:
- Engineering background preferably within Aerospace Industry, or a strong understanding of our Civil Aerospace products.
- Educated to degree level or equivalent in an Engineering, numerate or business discipline.
- Innovative thinker with a drive to solve problems and take accountability.
- Should have a proven track record in delivering results in challenging environments and clear capability of influencing across functions as well as communicating effectively and working collaboratively across diverse and global teams.
- Financial management, commercial acumen and decision-making skills, comfortable dealing with ambiguity.
- Engineering and Service Experience.
- Highly analytical and able to interpret data and complete data modelling using MS Excels and Power Bi.
- Strong Analytical, interpersonal, presentation, negotiation and project management skills.
- Generation of cost base for financial reporting - Time on wing, Shop Cost and Services cost.
- Life cycle cost reduction identification and achievement experience.
