Why Rolls-Royce?

At Rolls-Royce we are proud to be a business that has truly helped to shape the modern world and are committed to always being a force for progress; powering, protecting and connecting people everywhere.

By joining Rolls-Royce, you’ll have the opportunity to create world-class power and propulsion solutions, pushing your problem-solving and ingenuity, to deliver real impact that puts safety first.

You’ll be given responsibility and the opportunity to grow in our high-performance culture. This is Infinite Potential. And it’s your chance to really shine and contribute to one of the world’s most recognized brands and a beacon for engineering excellence.

Position Summary:

As an MRB Team Lead, you will function as a Deputy to the MRB Design Tech Lead focusing on the planning, tracking, and closure of key build non-conformance tickets in the system.

You will be responsible for the tracking, resourcing, and closure of both individual concessions and major projects (like PPRs, major supply disruptions, etc.) across both internal and external supply chain as a part of the MRB/Production Improvement Engineering (PIE) team.

The leader will manage and monitor the portion of the team that is outsourced to external vendors along with the temporary and rotational engineers (typically 14+ persons total).

You will provide design & project engineering support for production parts made by the internal plants and from vendors over a variety of Supply Chain Units (SCUs), resulting in a tangible impact on engine and spares delivery.

The team’s primary location is co-located with operations at the Excellence Building; there you will have the opportunity to see hardware and interface with the manufacturing and assembly teams. The team has embraced hybrid working and there are opportunities to work from other Indianapolis sites and remotely.

What you will be doing:

  • Track, resource, and drive to closure a variety of concessions at various states of the MRB process to ensure resolution in a timely manner
  • Manage and coordinate the 14+ person outsource team, rotational engineers, and on-loan engineers including metrics
  • Coordinate between PIE, Engine Program Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality organizations to prioritize “slow-moving work-in-progress” items and ensure focus on delivery is maintained
  • Proactively working with Supply Chain/Purchasing to ensure external suppliers address non-conformances in a timely and accurate manner
  • Identify system bottlenecks and proactively seek resolution before impacting engine build lines
  • Develop, monitor, and maintain all team KPIs and develop additional metrics based on customer requests
  • Serve as lead for all major engineering support issues like PPRs, on-going major build stops, and overarching major projects
  • Interface with Engine Program Engineering to ensure impact to our external customers is appropriately minimized by prioritizing manufacturing improvements as required
  • Track, resources, and coordinates Tool Layout (TLO) activities as requested
  • Identify and lead improvement projects to help factories flow

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 5+ years of experience OR

  • Possesses strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a high pressure and fast paced environment
  • Experience as a Project or Validation & Verification Engineer on production and/or development programs
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams through complex engineering challenges.
  • Ability to make sound decisions with limited information
  • Project Management experience in planning, controlling budgets and driving to schedules.
Engineering and technical competence, sufficient to enable decision making commensurate with size of package
  • Experience applying Systems approach or equivalent (Robust Design lead, Black belt, etc.)
  • Experience in leading an Engineering team
