You: An experienced tax professional with an interest in global tax compliance and strategy.

The Role

As Prolific’s first internal Tax Manager, you will be a key member of the finance team, reporting to the CFO to help us manage our global compliance and tax strategy to support us as we continue to grow internationally.

What you'll be doing

  • Feeding into global tax strategy and making recommendations to the Exec/Senior Leadership teams
  • Monitoring growth across different territories around the world and reporting on any exposure/risk
  • Driving forward registrations and filings as required for complying with indirect taxes internationally, in particular ensuring compliance with US Sales Tax as we move our US customers over to trading with our US subsidiary
  • Working closely with our product teams to help guide changes to our product and invoicing to stay compliant with global tax requirements as we grow
  • Taking ownership of UK/US annual tax filings inc. R&D claims (with support/input from the wider finance team)
  • Taking ownership of employment related securities (EMI scheme and unapproved options) and supporting the exec team with setting up the next equity plan to support our growing team after we exceed EMI limits
  • Monitoring the tax landscape for updates and changes which could have an impact on Prolific in the future
  • Making recommendations for internal process improvements to support with tax compliance and control
  • Working closely with a selection of trusted advisors to support you in the various different areas of global tax compliance (we don’t expect anyone to know everything!)

What you’ll bring

  • Strong tax knowledge across one or a multiple of areas of global tax compliance and an interest/desire to learn about more areas with the support of external advisors
  • An ability to measure and assess risk, paying consideration to the business impact/trade-offs
  • Excellent communicating skills to assist in reporting your findings/updates to the relevant internal/external stakeholders
  • Pragmatic problem solving skills
  • CTA qualification (or equivalent)

Even better if you have

  • Specific specialism/experience/knowledge of indirect taxes and the global rules surrounding them including digital services, marketplaces and use and enjoyment rules
  • Experience with Avalara or equivalent softwares

Our Interview Process

Talent Call: You'll meet with one of our Talent team and have an exploratory call about the role requirements, life at Prolific, as well as your background and aspirations.

Hiring Manager Interview: You'll interview with two members of the team, one of which will be the hiring manager. You'll have the opportunity to ask about the company and the role, and we'll ask you questions about your experiences and goals. Panel Interview: We'll hold a panel interview that evaluates skills required for the role. You'll meet with more of our team and may be asked to complete a presentation or task. You'll be compensated with a £50 voucher 💰 for completing the task because we know your time is valuable! Final Interview: We will deep dive into your past experiences, goals, motivations, and skills all aligned to our Prolific Principles. You'll speak with two to three members of the team and - as always - have an opportunity to ask questions about the role and company.
