The Role
We are looking for an early-career Data Engineer to join our newly formed data platform team. Your primary responsibility in this role will be to design, build, and maintain data pipelines utilising tools such as Meltano, Stitch, and DBT. You'll work on extracting and transforming data from a variety of sources and processing and storing it in the cloud using tools like Redshift, AWS, and Terraform.

What you'll be doing
- Identify data needs for the business and product teams, understand their specific requirements for metrics and analysis, and build efficient and scalable data pipelines to enable data-driven decisions.
- Utilise SQL and DBT for the development of data models to facilitate data analysis.
- Write Python "taps" to pull data from the APIs of various sources, including PayPal, Hubspot, and Zendesk.
- Drive the collection of new data and the refinement of existing data sources.
- Develop relationships with engineering teams to manage our data structures as the product evolves.
- Help to define and improve our internal standards for style, maintainability, and best practices for reliable data infrastructure.
- Ingest financial data reliably and regularly, and ensure data quality and completeness.
- Monitor and troubleshoot data pipeline issues, and proactively identify opportunities for optimisation and improvement.
- Build automation and tests to ensure our data pipeline is high quality, trustworthy, and scalable.
What you’ll bring
- 2+ years of software or data engineering experience.
- Strong skills in Python, SQL, and experience designing robust applications.
- Experience with data pipelines and ETL tools, including data warehousing technologies, such as Redshift or BigQuery.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work with stakeholders to understand requirements.
- Passion for data and a desire to learn and grow in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Even better if you have
- Experience with cloud computing platforms, such as AWS or GCP, as well as Infrastructure As Code, such as Terraform.
- Experience working with APIs to read or send data.
- Experience with ML-Ops.
- Experience with data governance and data cataloguing tools.

Our Interview Process
Talent Call: You'll meet with one of our Talent team and have an exploratory call about the role requirements, life at Prolific, as well as your background and aspirations.
Hiring Manager Interview: You'll interview with two members of the team, one of which will be the hiring manager. You'll have the opportunity to ask about the company and the role, and we'll ask you questions about your experiences and goals. Panel Interview: We'll hold a panel interview that evaluates skills required for the role. You'll meet with more of our team and may be asked to complete a presentation or task. You'll be compensated with a £50 voucher 💰 for completing the task because we know your time is valuable! Final Interview: We will deep dive into your past experiences, goals, motivations, and skills all aligned to our Prolific Principles. You'll speak with two to three members of the team and - as always - have an opportunity to ask questions about the role and company.
