Job Description
What do we do?
Paddle offers SaaS companies a completely different approach to their payment infrastructure. Instead of assembling and maintaining a complex stack of payments-related apps and services, we’re a Merchant of Record for our customers. That means we take away 100% of the pain of payment fragmentation. It’s faster, safer, cheaper, and, above all, way better.
We’re backed by investors including KKR, FTV Capital, Kindred, Notion, and 83North and serve over 3000 software sellers in 245 territories globally.
The Role:
Paddle’s mission is helping SaaS companies operate and grow their business automatically. A cornerstone of our strategy to achieve that mission is building out a best-in-class Checkout and Tax platform. Maintaining compliant and optimised checkout and tax flows are a massive distraction for our customers, which in turn makes them high leverage problems for Paddle to address on their behalf, especially as their merchant of record. We’ve processed hundreds of millions of checkouts and paid hundreds of millions in taxes on our customers’ behalf. We’re looking for an ambitious and autonomous product manager to own this pillar of our product strategy by solving our customers’ Checkout and Tax problems.
What you'll do:
Identify opportunities. Talk with prospects, customers, and internal stakeholders to gain a deep understanding of the market landscape, our customer needs, and the opportunities and gaps in our product. Use this knowledge to create a list of potential projects / solutions.
Own the roadmap. Prioritise a product roadmap based on the knowledge you’ve gathered and projects you’ve identified above to ensure we’re having the highest impact and delivering the most value to our customers.
Ship value often. Work closely with the rest of the business (design, engineering, product marketing, sales, finance, legal) to deliver the roadmap. Your day to day work will vary, but will include things like gathering and contextualising customer feedback, triaging and prioritising bugs, discussing domain updates with our legal and tax teams, answering questions to unblock the engineering team, making tradeoffs between project scope and speed, coordinating product releases, and more.Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends, tools, and technologies related to data engineering.
We'd love to hear from you if:
You’re analytical and data driven. We’re looking for someone who can break problems down to their fundamental components, and who is comfortable using data to answer questions and inform decisions.
You’re diligent and attentive to detail. Checkout and Tax are both products where the little things matter (boosting checkout conversion rates by 1% has a massive impact!), so we’re looking for someone who sweats the small stuff and finds even the tiniest opportunities for improvement (especially when it comes to design and UX!).
You have a strong sense of ownership. You’ll encounter your fair share of roadblocks in your quest to deliver value to our customers, so we’re looking for someone who is self-motivated enough to overcome these obstacles and drive projects to completion.
You’re hungry to learn, have a growth mindset, and are eager for feedback. The world at the intersection of Checkout, Tax, and SaaS is constantly evolving, so we’re looking for someone who can match that pace of growth and looks to get better every day. This requires not only a belief that you can improve, but also proactively seeking out opportunities to do so.
