Team Supervisor

About the role
As a Team Supervisor within NFU Mutual’s National Intermediary Services (NIS) team, you will play a key role in leading, developing and supporting colleagues across the division. Managing a small team, you will be responsible for onboarding new starters, planning and allocating workloads, overseeing training and integration, and ensuring that each individual’s core subjects and specialist areas are aligned to their long‑term development.
You will also advise on, investigate and resolve referred queries and complaints in line with policies, procedures and delegated authorities, ensuring fair outcomes for customers.
Working closely with people managers and department heads, you will help ensure smooth day‑to‑day operations and clear, effective communication. You will use a range of systems and tools, including Sonic, Billing Centre and external insurer portals such as AIG, alongside Power BI, Excel and PowerPoint, to track performance, monitor SLA compliance and report on apprentice progress. Your involvement in governance and accounts activity will be essential in maintaining high standards and meeting regulatory requirements.
Regular, hands‑on engagement with the team will be central to your role, including weekly and monthly one‑to‑one discussions to provide guidance, feedback and support. Through coaching, motivation and effective leadership, you will help the team achieve targets, KPIs and service standards, contributing directly to the wider business and financial objectives of NIS.
This role falls under Insurance Distribution Directive requirements, and as a result, role holders will be required to demonstrate ongoing Continuous Professional Development in role, along with undergoing regular re-screening to show that they are of “Good Repute”. About you
You are an experienced mentor and passionate about supporting others’ development and growth within a team environment. Highly organised with excellent attention to detail, you bring a continuous improvement mindset, always seeking ways to enhance processes and outcomes. Your essential experience in forecasting, planning, monitoring, and managing workflow and team resources ensures you can allocate tasks effectively and meet deadlines.
Account Handling experience is essential for the role because we need you to bring your knowledge of the team and how we work to life, as well as being able to support with Account Handling from time to time. You have working knowledge of financial product lines such as Directors & Officers, Professional Indemnity, and Cyber, supporting your ability to contribute to technical discussions and team projects.
You demonstrate empathy and approachability, creating a supportive environment for apprentices and colleagues, and are skilled in coaching and mentoring. Your strengths, to be assessed through the recruitment process, include:
