About the role
As a Paraplanner at NFU Mutual, you’ll provide financial planning support and systems and technical guidance to Financial Advisers, so they can deliver a compliant and efficient sales and advice process.
You’ll join the Financial Services team and work closely with our Financial Advisers across the UK. Our expert team helps deliver trusted advice and tailored solutions by reviewing recommendations, building suitability reports, ensuring advice meets regulatory requirements, and providing expert technical support through a central mailbox.
In this role, you’ll interpret and evaluate the quality of financial planning advice, compose and review draft financial reports, ensuring that all advice and recommendations are clear and straightforward. You will critically assess the recommendations made by advisers, ensuring alignment with current guidance and rules, and are expected to question and challenge advisers to maintain high standards. You’ll also identify improvements to the advice proposition, share feedback on trends, risks and training needs, and support short-term activities agreed with your line manager.
The role is full-time, home-based, with quarterly team meetings at NFU Mutual’s Head Office in Stratford-upon-Avon. Additionally, you’ll spend more time at Head Office during training and induction in the early weeks so we can provide the best possible support as you get started.
About you
You communicate clearly, make considered decisions, and take an analytical, inquisitive approach to your work. You’ll keep customers, quality and compliance at the centre of the advice process. You’re comfortable explaining complex information and working with others to deliver practical, timely outcomes. A high level of attention to detail, strong relationship-building skills, and the ability to multitask are essential. The role requires someone who is highly organised, uses their initiative and is capable of making decisions. You’ll be able to write clear, concise reports that are easy for customers to understand.
You must hold a Level 4 Diploma in Financial Planning and have experience dealing with complex financial information within a regulated environment.
To join NFU Mutual, you’ll also bring
- Industry regulation awareness, including a strong understanding of Financial Services regulatory and compliance frameworks.
- Experience analysing financial data, including pension and inheritance tax calculations.
- Significant knowledge of tax and financial planning solutions, with good knowledge of end-to-end sales processes, systems and tools.
- Good IT and report writing skills, with the ability to compose and review clear suitability reports.
- Experience developing practical solutions to technical business issues.
- An analytical mind, and passion about providing high-quality financial support and advice.
Regulatory Information Certification. This role is subject to certification. Certification applies to key roles within the organisation that meet set criteria defined by our regulators. Certification is an internal process undertaken in line with regulatory requirements that is to be in place on appointment and annually thereafter.
Certified Function This role is subject to certification for NFU Mutual Select Investments Ltd due to being identified as: Client Dealing, previously CF30 A person who performs the client-dealing certification function which involves any of the following activities: advising on investments and performing other functions related to this such as dealing and arranging.
Function Requiring Qualification A person carrying out a role that requires a regulatory qualification as defined within the FCA Training & Competence (T&C) Sourcebook.
