Home Risk Pricing Consultant
Job Description
Home Risk Pricing Consultant
- Be part of NFU Mutual's people-focused Risk Pricing department, that puts fairness and accurate pricing at the heart of what we do
- A great opportunity to combine hands-on technical pricing work with people management, developing risk pricing models whilst leading and supporting a small team
- Benefit from our hybrid working approach, with 80% home working and regular time in our Stratford-upon-Avon office for collaboration and connection (20%)
About the role
Working in Pricing at NFU Mutual feels genuinely different. With a clear focus on customers rather than shareholders, the team’s work has real impact - supporting local communities, protecting livelihoods, and helping our UK wide Agency Network deliver exceptional service.
As a Home Risk Pricing Consultant, you’ll play a key role in developing and delivering an independent risk price across a defined product range, ensuring accurate risk cost, strong premium performance and clear insight into the drivers of cost inflation. This is a personal lines risk pricing role covering both standard and bespoke Home insurance, as well as Equine, offering a varied and technically engaging portfolio.
From day one, this role will include people management responsibilities, with line management of a small team. Working closely with colleagues across the Pricing community, Claims, Reserving & Pricing Innovation, you will design and implement effective rating logic, build and refine risk pricing models, and support governance processes to maintain the highest levels of model quality and integrity.
You’ll also have the opportunity to shape and evolve our monitoring approach, improving insight into performance and strengthening our ability to respond to emerging trends. Alongside this, you’ll play a key role in driving efficiencies and streamlining processes as we continue to transition towards an online distribution channel
You’ll contribute to shaping product, underwriting and pricing decisions by providing robust technical input, monitoring regulatory and market forces and helping to drive continuous improvement. This role offers the opportunity to operate at the heart of our pricing strategy, with visibility across senior stakeholders, involvement in innovative projects and the chance to make a meaningful impact in a collaborative and supportive environment.
About you
You’re an experienced pricing professional with the ability to translate complex analysis into clear insights and recommendations. You communicate confidently with a range of stakeholders, building strong relationships and positively influencing thinking
You’re comfortable challenging assumptions, simplifying complexity for others and adapting quickly in an evolving environment. You prioritise effectively, manage your time well and bring a proactive, solutions-focused mindset with strong problem-solving capability.
As a people centred leader with proven experience in leading, developing and/or mentoring others, you foster growth and collaboration while consistently delivering work with precision and strong technical rigour.
You will also be able to demonstrate the following:
- Significant experience in a General Insurance Pricing function with direct responsibility for pricing outputs
- Proficiency with pricing software (Emblem, Radar, R, SQL or similar)
- Extensive experience building and using risk pricing models and setting technical rates
- Strong data and trend analysis capability
- Prior experience in personal property lines and/or direct online channels would be desirable
At NFU Mutual, we support an inclusive workplace and value all the differences that make us unique. We celebrate the creativity and innovation that comes from diverse perspectives and experiences and share a common vision of doing the right thing for our customers and employees.
We recognise that some candidates may experience barriers during the recruitment process. So, we encourage candidates to discuss any adjustments or accommodations they need to be the best they can be throughout our recruitment process.
We're proud to be a Disability Confident Employer, a Race at Work and Women in Finance Charter signatory and welcome applications from people of all backgrounds, regardless of age, ethnicity, disability, neurodiversity, gender, religion, marital status, sexual orientation, or socioeconomic background.
