Job Description

We’re on a mission to create a diverse group of future leaders. We do that through professional apprenticeships because we believe learning on-the-job creates a more equitable and successful path to careers. We find, train and support talented individuals, wherever they are in their career journey, and equip them with the in-demand tech, software engineering, and data skills to transform their careers and deliver a better route to growth for their employers.

We’ve had some big achievements. We hit 10,000 apprentices in our community - and counting. We launched one of the largest data apprenticeship programs in the UK with Jaguar Land Rover, and we’ve partnered with companies like Mars, Verizon and CitiBank. Not to forget becoming a mission-driven EdTech unicorn after our $220m Series D.

But we aren’t stopping here. Join Multiverse and build the future of learning at work.

The Opportunity

We've gone through a period of exceptional growth, and we are expanding our Strategic Finance team to help ensure that the Finance Department is ready to support Multiverse’s next phase. This includes enhancing our analytical capacity, processes, and reporting in order to:

(i) better monitor and report KPIs that enable the business to ensure it is tracking towards its key objectives;

(ii) provide strategic insights into the company’s performance, identify areas for improvement, and drive initiatives related to these areas; and

(iii) inform new product configurations and launches and the structuring of new partnerships to ensure they fit the company’s objectives,

The Strategic Finance team operates in three main areas:

  • Strategic and Operational Analysis: Working across the organisation to gather data and produce and distribute regular analysis of KPIs, setting targets and identifying areas of potential improvement, while supporting business development with analysis

  • Pricing, Profitability, and External Growth: Drive analysis and be the ultimate approver of pricing and structuring of new products, partnerships, and initiatives, ensuring growth with the right unit economics

  • Revenue Collection and General Data Integrity: Overseeing UK Compliance and being responsible for working across departments to align the business on definitions, sources, and methodologies for producing key operational and financial data.

  • This is a high-visibility position reporting to the Senior Director of Strategic Finance. You will interact regularly with senior leadership of other departments to provide a financial perspective on key decisions, agree on methods and types of data sharing, and agree on the types of financial as well as operational analysis you will be conducting with them. One of your primary responsibilities will be to ensure the preparation and regular dissemination of analysis information that is crucial to the business’s ability to monitor its performance and make strategic and operational decisions. You will also provide the analytical and planning to support Departments’ needs.

    Specifically, you will:

    • Create highly functional partnerships with key departments in order to facilitate data flow, analysis, and cross-departmental collaboration aimed at enhancing MVs ability to draw conclusions from and take actions on the basis of real-time data

    • Develop and implement processes that result in the consistent and accurate calculation and reporting of key performance indicators that relate to the department(s) you partner with

    • Leverage your position to acquire a deep understanding of business drivers to inform the setting of KPI targets, undertake further analysis, and make recommendations to help drive growth and profitability.

    • Actively monitor operational and financial and departmental performance to inform financial forecasting and to make recommendations on areas of potential improvement

    • Work with the Senior Director of Strategic Finance to develop and produce regular reports to the C-Suite and other senior leaders on business performance, financial and operational health, and forecast updates.

    • Review proposals for new areas of expenditure, review the research underlying them, and conduct appropriate financial analysis for the purposes of providing the Finance Team’s recommendation on potential changes and whether the proposals should be approved

    • Support other senior leaders in the development, structuring, and negotiation of large contracts and/or strategic partnerships

    • Identify areas of improvement in financial reporting and record-keeping and ensure a consistent flow of accurate financial information and KPIs to the SLT and C-Suite

    • Strong hustle - with no aversion to 'rolling up your sleeves and solving immediate business problems and projects

    • Partner with the Accounting team to align reporting calendars in a way that permits a consistent flow of financial and KPI reporting to the business

    About you:

    • You have a background that includes 5-7 years in a combination of investment banking, strategic consulting, or as a business partner or member of a strategic finance team in high growth, scale- or start-up environment

    • Outstanding data analysis and presentation skills; you enjoy working with large data sets to draw important conclusions, you can present key ideas convincingly, and you are able to work quickly

    • You excel at strategic and operational analysis, you are quick to identify areas of potential improvement, and you have the communication and presentation skills to persuade key stakeholders of your ideas

    • You have experience using analysis to inform operational decisions that have made measurable changes in the financial and/or operational performance of companies

    • Comfort with Google Sheets and Microsoft Excel; knowledge of Python and SQL a plus

    • Team player who is comfortable working in a high-growth, constantly evolving environment

    • Self-starter who thrives in fast-paced environments with minimal supervision

    • Proven track record of gaining and maintaining trust from key stakeholders across functions

    • You are highly ambitious with a strong work ethic

    • You have excellent analytical, reasoning, and problem-solving skills

    • A functional knowledge of accounting
