Assessment Designer, UK

Employment type:  Full time

Job Description

We’re on a mission to create a diverse group of future leaders. We do that through professional apprenticeships because we believe learning on-the-job creates a more equitable and successful path to careers. We find, train and support talented individuals, wherever they are in their career journey, and equip them with the in-demand tech, software engineering, and data skills to transform their careers and deliver a better route to growth for their employers.

We’ve had some big achievements. We hit 10,000 apprentices in our community - and counting. We launched one of the largest data apprenticeship programs in the UK with Jaguar Land Rover, and we’ve partnered with companies like Mars, Verizon and CitiBank. Not to forget becoming a mission-driven EdTech unicorn after our $220m Series D.

But we aren’t stopping here. Join Multiverse and build the future of learning at work.

The Opportunity

You will be working in a supportive, friendly, and collaborative team, at the intersection between data & Insights, psychometrics, learning, and product technology. You will sit in the Assessment team, helping to disrupt traditional models of education through designing inclusive authentic assessments and automating apprentice progress tracking to deliver personalised interventions at scale. You will design, validate and lead assessment experiments that test an apprentices proficiency in knowledge, skills and behaviours. In this role you will need to be a self-starter, showing initiative, working with cross-functional stakeholders and managing priorities to solve problems, escalate issues and make decisions.

Specifically, you will:

  • Design knowledge and skill-based assessments based on programme competency frameworks

  • Translate Assessment For Learning (AFL) methodology into practical assessment methods that can be implemented at scale

  • Constantly validate and iterate assessments to increase accuracy and validity

  • Develop a diversity-first approach to inclusive and authentic assessment

  • Lead assessment experiments that reduce cost-to-serve and increase business impact

  • Analyse assessment data to ensure equitable outcomes across programmes

  • Actively collaborate with a team of learning designers, product managers, coaches and data specialists to implement assessment ideas and track the data to inform apprentice interventions

  • Influence the product technology roadmap to ensure assessment principles are reflected in the Multiverse learning platform

What you'll bring:

  • Academic or commercial background in educational assessment

  • Experience working with competency frameworks

  • Experience developing and validating knowledge and skill-based assessments

  • Passion for diversity and inclusion

  • Ability to complete critical processes with a high degree of accuracy at pace

  • Creative problem-solving skills and a ‘can do’ attitude

  • Great at building relationships and trust with people quickly

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to work independently as well as within a team environment

  • Passionate about processes and getting tasks done

  • You are a problem solver and can work under pressure

Additionally:

In addition to generalists, we are looking for Assessment Designers who will work on our technical curriculum, such as our Software Engineering programme. Desirable skills such as programming languages or use of data tools (e.g. JavaScript, Python, SQL, Tableau, Excel, R) are not essential but favorable.
