The Survey Specialist provides technical expertise in geospatial data collection, analysis, and integration to support Mott MacDonald survey projects. This role is responsible for executing precise survey tasks, processing field data, and collaborating with engineering and construction teams to ensure accurate site layouts and compliance with regulatory standards. The Survey Specialist works closely with the Survey Coordinators, survey management, field crews, engineers, GIS specialists, and land teams to support the successful execution of projects.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Coordinate survey activities across multiple project sites, ensuring alignment with engineering and construction schedules.
- Direct field data collection and oversee survey crew field activities
- Process survey data and Draft survey linework daily
- Assist in quality control of survey data and ensure compliance with regulatory standards and company procedures.
- Maintain survey databases and organize incoming field data for integration into CAD and GIS platforms.
- Schedule and dispatch survey crews, ensuring proper equipment, training, and resources are available.
- Collaborate with land agents, permitting teams, and environmental staff to support project development.
- Review records and ensure data is processed and drafted accurately and daily
- Plot deeds, generate TIN surfaces
- Review and approve survey crews' weekly timesheets and expense reports
- Promote safety requirements (PPE, incident reporting, safe work practice)
- Stay current with industry standards, technologies, and regulatory requirements affecting project work
Requirements:
- High School graduate or equivalent. Associates degree, 4-year degree in related discipline, or SIT is strongly desired. Previous Mott MacDonald experience preferred
- Understanding with commonly used surveying terms and with the use and care of survey tools and other survey field equipment used for measuring, sighting, and leveling
- Familiarity of land rights, easements, and general survey standards
- Proficiency in Microsoft, Trimble software Center, and AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills
- Familiarity with the latest survey and data collector software
- Knowledge in the various methods of surveying and survey industries. Proficiency in linear corridors and pipelines are preferred
- Strong leadership skills, work ethic, and team-player attitude
- Strong technical, documentation, and organizational skills
- Must be authorized to work in the United States
- Must be willing to travel and remain onsite for long durations when necessary
- Maintain compliance with Mott MacDonald required training
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites
