Role Overview:
The Rail Systems Engineer will lead the rail systems discipline for the metro station enhancement, taking technical ownership of the design, coordination, integration, and delivery of the COMS, OCS and AFC systems. The role is responsible for guiding the team, managing technical outputs, and ensuring that practical, compliant, and integrated system solutions are developed while maintaining safe, secure, reliable, and uninterrupted station operations during design, construction, testing, and commissioning.
The candidate will act as the main rail systems technical lead, working closely with multidisciplinary design teams, client representatives, contractors, system suppliers, operators, authorities, and project management teams. They will be expected to provide clear technical direction, manage interfaces, resolve design issues, support decision-making, and ensure that new and modified rail systems are fully coordinated with existing operational assets, legacy systems, OCC/BOCC requirements, station infrastructure, and applicable authority standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the rail systems discipline and manage the design and integration of systems including MSN, CCTV, PA/PIS, IAS, TN/ECB, NBR, TDS, DVVR, AFC, OCS, telecoms, and associated power distribution systems.
- Review construction documents such as material submittal, method statements, prequalification documents, shop drawings, as-builts and other relevant drawings and document related to construction works.
- Lead coordination of rail systems interfaces with architecture, civil, structural, MEP, fire and life safety, security, operations, RAMS, construction, and commissioning teams.
- Assess impacts of enhancement works on existing operational systems and ensure retention, relocation, decommissioning, reuse, expansion, and integration of assets are in compliance with the project requirements.
- Ensure new equipment and field devices are compatible with existing legacy systems, communication networks, control systems, and operational procedures.
- Manage system integration with OCC, BOCC, SMO, OCS workstations, central servers, station-level control and monitoring systems, and relevant operational stakeholders.
- Contribute to testing and commissioning, including integration testing, operational readiness, handover documentation, O&M manuals, and commissioning reports.
- Support compliance with RTA requirements, UAE regulations, rail design guidelines, telecommunications standards, security requirements, cyber policies, and safety obligations.
- Lead technical workshops, design reviews, stakeholder coordination meetings, and contractor design coordination activities.
- Manage discipline deliverables, programme inputs, technical risks, assumptions, design decisions, and actions to support timely and coordinated project delivery.
- Identify, escalate, and lead the resolution of technical risks, interface issues, operational constraints, and constructability challenges through coordinated engineering solutions.
- Support continuous improvement and digital ways of working, sharing knowledge and lessons learned.
