Job Description

We are seeking a highly capable Senior Maritime Design Technician to lead the production, coordination and quality of technical drawings for maritime infrastructure projects.

The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering clear, accurate and buildable drawing packages that support the planning, design and construction of maritime infrastructure projects across Scotland and the UK.

Typical projects include ferry terminals, piers, jetties, quay structures, dolphins, linkspan support structures, slipways, seawalls and associated landside infrastructure such as pavements, drainage and utilities.

This role is ideally suited to a practical and detail-oriented technician who takes pride in producing high-quality engineering drawings and understands how those drawings are used by contractors to build infrastructure safely, efficiently and accurately.

We are seeking someone who can work proactively with engineers to develop complete, coordinated and construction-ready drawing packages, rather than simply drafting information provided by others. The successful candidate will understand how engineering information should be presented, what drawings are required, what details and annotations are needed, and how to communicate design intent clearly and consistently.

Working within a specialist maritime team, the successful candidate will help establish and maintain drawing quality, presentation standards, document control processes and technical consistency across projects.

Success in this role will be measured through the quality, clarity and consistency of project deliverables, the efficiency of drawing production, and the ability to support successful project delivery through well-presented and coordinated engineering documentation.

Job Location

Noida / Bangalore

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the production of technical drawings for maritime and civil engineering projects.
  • Develop and maintain complete drawing packages from concept development through to detailed design and construction support.
  • Produce clear, accurate and professionally presented civil and structural engineering drawings suitable for construction, procurement and asset management activities.
  • Work closely with engineers to develop practical and buildable design solutions and translate engineering concepts into high-quality drawing deliverables.
  • Ensure drawings contain the appropriate plans, elevations, sections, details, dimensions, notes and annotations required to communicate design intent effectively.
  • Maintain high standards of drawing presentation, consistency and quality across all projects.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary information and ensure drawing packages are fully integrated, technically consistent and ready for issue.
  • Manage drawing registers, drawing numbering, revision control, file management and document control processes in accordance with project and business requirements.
  • Undertake quality reviews and checking of drawings prior to issue.
  • Support the development and maintenance of CAD standards, drawing templates, presentation standards and best-practice procedures.
  • Review work outputs and provide guidance, mentoring, and support to junior technicians and CAD team members.
  • Promote efficient digital delivery while maintaining a strong focus on practical project requirements and client needs.

Candidate Specification

We are seeking a practical, organised and highly capable technician who is passionate about producing high-quality engineering drawings and takes pride in the presentation, consistency and accuracy of technical deliverables.

The successful candidate will demonstrate strong attention to detail, excellent organisational skills and a thorough understanding of how engineering drawings are developed, coordinated and used throughout project delivery and construction.

We would encourage you to apply if you are technically strong, intellectually curious and can demonstrate a working knowledge against the criteria below:

Qualifications:

  • Strong technical knowledge of maritime structures, particularly ferry terminal infrastructure, piled jetties, piers, quay structures, dolphins, linkspan support structures, slipways and seawalls.
  • Strong knowledge of Revit, Navisworks, and broader BIM tools, including proficiency in AutoCAD and associated engineering drawing production software.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce complete, coordinated and construction-ready drawing packages with minimal supervision.
  • Strong understanding of engineering drawing principles, technical presentation standards, annotation requirements, drawing composition and construction detailing.
  • Experience preparing plans, elevations, sections, details and construction drawings for civil and structural engineering projects.
  • Ability to identify missing information, inconsistencies, clashes and coordination issues within engineering deliverables. Demonstrable evidence of information management, clash detection, and model review.
  • Experience managing drawing numbering systems, revision control and document management processes including CDE platforms.
  • Strong understanding of quality assurance and checking procedures for engineering documentation.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality and consistent deliverables.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with engineers, technicians and project teams.
  • Experience organising, coordinating and managing large drawing packages across multiple projects.
  • Strong appreciation of buildability and the requirements of contractors and site teams when preparing construction drawings.

Desirable Competencies / Skills:

  • Engineering Technician (EngTech) registration with a relevant professional institution, or demonstrably close to achieving professional registration, or holding an equivalent professional qualification recognised by the Engineering Council
  • Experience working on ferry terminal and harbour infrastructure.
  • Experience with BIM-enabled project delivery and information management workflows.
