Job Description:

Main purpose of the role:

The Senior Electrical Engineer is responsible for overseeing, managing, and delivering all electrical engineering components within multidisciplinary design projects. The role ensures technical excellence, compliance with applicable standards, effective coordination with internal and external stakeholders, and successful delivery of high‑quality engineering outputs.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

Electrical Design & Technical Delivery

  • Lead and manage the development of electrical design deliverables including load lists, system studies, calculations, specifications, datasheets, drawings, and procurement packages.
  • Coordinate electrical system design covering power distribution, electrical controls, distribution boards, and integration with mechanical and ICA systems.
  • Conduct technical reviews to ensure all design documents and calculations comply with project requirements, standards, and safety regulations.

Inter‑Discipline Coordination & Stakeholder Management

  • Support and facilitate technical coordination between electrical engineering and other engineering disciplines.
  • Liaise with clients, consultants, contractors, vendors, stakeholders, and regulatory authorities to ensure smooth design progress and alignment.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance during interface meetings, design workshops, and coordination sessions.

Engineering Evaluation & Compliance

  • Evaluate proposed electrical design changes, deviations, and non‑conformances, ensuring all modifications meet project specifications and authority requirements.
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory standards and other applicable authority guidelines.
  • Ensure compliance with internal quality management systems and apply best engineering practices across all project phases.

Documentation, Reporting & Procurement Support

  • Prepare and lead the development of engineering reports, specifications, technical memoranda, and other project documentation.
  • Lead procurement activities including preparation of material requisitions, technical bid evaluations, vendor document reviews, and participation in vendor clarification meetings.
  • Review and approve vendor drawings, datasheets, and manufacturing documentation.

Construction Support, Testing & Commissioning

  • Perform site visits, inspections, audits, and technical assessments throughout the construction and commissioning phases.
  • Participate in FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing), SAT (Site Acceptance Testing), and resolve complex technical issues encountered during installation or commissioning.
  • Support quality assurance activities and ensure adherence to HSEQ requirements.

Risk, Safety & Quality Assurance

  • Promote and ensure high HSEQ standards in all engineering activities.
  • Participate in HAZID / HAZOP studies and ensure that identified risks are appropriately managed and documented.
  • Lead resolution of technical queries and support the project team in identifying risk mitigation strategies.

Candidate Specification:

Qualifications

Electrical engineering degree or equivalent from an accredited University with Professional Engineering Registration in the United States or a Chartered Engineer in the United Kingdom or any other recognized Professional Institution, all to the approval of the Engineer.

Experience:

  • The candidate should have demonstrable experience, of which some experience as a Manager/Technical lead in a design management capacity of similar works;
  • Must have experience in managing, reviewing and approving of design documents and drawings associated with the design of electrical power supply (HV LV) electrical plant design (motors, MCC, power supply) PID’s, Control Philosophy, all that would be associated with deep stormwater/sewerage pumping stations and other associated process type buildings;
  • Must have excellent communication skills and experience of large scale project delivery and design team management;
  • They shall be able to demonstrate the following Key skills;
    a. Deep well storming water pumping station design;
    b. Design for electrical plant (motors, MCC, power supply);
    c. Design of electrical power supply (HV & LV);
    d. Detailed knowledge of electrical design software – AMTECH & ETAP;
    e. Peer review electrical contract documents, calculations & reports;
    f. Detailed knowledge of electrical specifications and datasheets;
    g. Pumping station control design – Control Philosophy;
    h. Detailed understanding of P&ID’s;
    i. Peer review ICA contract documents, calculations & reports;
    j. Detailed knowledge of ICA specifications and datasheets;
    k. Detailed knowledge of testing and commissioning (FAT & SAT).

General

  1. Must be fluent in English both written and spoken with an excellent capability in written technical skills as well as oral and written communication skills;
  2. Computer skills are mandatory.
