The Principal Digital Consultant is a senior leader and trusted advisor responsible for helping clients define and deliver their digital transformation ambitions. This role provides strategic guidance and innovative solutions that enable organizations to achieve measurable business outcomes through technology, optimized processes, effective governance, and data-driven decision-making.

Working closely with clients, project teams, and technical specialists, the Principal Digital Consultant serves as the critical link between business objectives and digital solutions, ensuring organizations realize the full value of their digital investments.

Key Responsibilities

Digital Advisory

  • Develop and implement digital transformation strategies aligned with client objectives and industry best practices.
  • Assess organizational digital maturity and create actionable roadmaps that support technology adoption, operational improvement, and change management initiatives.
  • Advise clients on digital operating models, governance frameworks, and technology-enabled business transformation.

Project Leadership & Delivery

  • Lead the delivery of complex digital initiatives, ensuring successful outcomes across scope, schedule, quality, and budget.
  • Provide oversight of governance frameworks and ensure compliance with security, regulatory, and organizational standards.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate digital solutions into large-scale infrastructure and capital projects.

Client Engagement

  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders and executive stakeholders, influencing strategic decision-making and fostering long-term client relationships.
  • Lead workshops, executive briefings, and stakeholder engagement sessions to align digital priorities with business objectives.
  • Support business development activities, including proposal development, client presentations, and thought leadership initiatives.

Innovation & Continuous Improvement

  • Monitor emerging technologies, industry trends, and market developments to identify new opportunities for clients and the business.
  • Champion innovation, process optimization, automation, and data-driven decision-making across projects and organizations.
  • Promote continuous improvement by identifying and implementing best practices in digital delivery and transformation.

This role requires an individual who is comfortable operating in a rapidly evolving and growing market where opportunities are abundant but often require strategic development and cultivation. The successful candidate will bring a blend of energy, creativity, pragmatism, and proven consulting methodologies to solve complex client and business challenges.

Candidates who demonstrate the following skills and experience will be considered:

  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and mentor consultants and technical professionals.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with a collaborative approach and a positive, solutions-oriented mindset.
  • Exceptional communication, writing, facilitation, and presentation skills, particularly when engaging senior stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to translate business needs into scalable digital solutions.
  • Expertise in digital strategy, technology advisory, and digital delivery frameworks.
  • High degree of business acumen and stakeholder management capability.
  • Relevant post-secondary education in a related discipline.

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years of consulting experience, preferably in technology or digital consulting supporting infrastructure projects within sectors such as transportation, water, energy, or the built environment.
  • Minimum 10 years of project management experience, including familiarity with both traditional and agile delivery methodologies.
  • Minimum 15 years of experience developing, implementing, or leading digital solutions, with progressive leadership responsibility and experience leading teams, programs, or transformation initiatives.
  • Demonstrated data literacy, including experience with business intelligence, data management, analytics, visualization, information security, and requirements management.

Preferred Experience & Qualifications

  • Proven track record of delivering digital transformation and advisory projects within infrastructure, construction, engineering, or enterprise environments.
  • Strong understanding of digital ecosystems, cloud technologies, data governance, and BIM-enabled project delivery.
  • Experience supporting organizational change, digital adoption, and operational transformation initiatives.
  • Professional certifications in project management, agile delivery, digital transformation, cloud technologies, or related disciplines are considered an asset.

Multiple factors such as qualifications, overall experience and position responsibilities will be used to determine the successful candidate's actual salary within the expected range.

The expected salary range for this position is from $158,000 - $194,000.
