Major Projects Director – North America

Mott MacDonald North America is focused on growth, with major projects as our key driver. We are looking to welcome a Major Projects Director to play a key part in winning and delivering major projects across North America.

These will primarily entail Design-Build/Alternative delivery projects for mega TRANSIT / TRANSPORTATION projects.

You will fill the position of Project Manager or Project Director (depending on scale and complexity) seeking out opportunities in conjunction with our Development team, then executing through the RFQ/RFP phases and beyond into delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Relationships: Develop, maintain and grow contractor and client relationships in our key markets.
  • Win: Through a total team effort, deliver winning proposals and interviews, ultimately securing the capture of major project wins for Mott MacDonald.
  • Deliver: Have oversight for the delivery of a major project, on behalf of Mott MacDonald, during the initial project phases. Establish the project by best-in-class standards and to MM level of quality.
  • Repeat: Provide a smooth transition to a successor and begin the capture, win and deliver phase again.
  • Ethics: Exemplify leadership by upholding Mott MacDonald’s ethical standards and values, ensuring zero tolerance for unacceptable behaviors.
  • Visibility: Engage proactively across the Unit and North America, demonstrating inspiring leadership. Foster collaboration across the Region to deliver the best of Mott MacDonald to our clients.
  • Develop: Enhance employee engagement, retention, well-being, and opportunities by leveraging effectively developing talent. Take a proactive approach to mentoring and enhancing employee knowledge and skills.
  • Collaborate: Work collaboratively with colleagues across Mott MacDonald and drive a one Mott MacDonald approach.

About you

Project Leadership - A passion for leadership, with an ability to inspire and lead a group of people as a collaborative effort with a team mentality while maintaining a high level of staff morale and performance. Deliver the project quality, schedule and budget.

Major Projects Delivery - You have successfully delivered alternative delivery TRANSIT / TRANSPORTATION major projects through each key part of the lifecycle – win, develop, deliver and close. You've been a Project Manager on a major project for the prime designer, or a contractor for Design-Build or Progressive Design-Build projects.

Market Awareness - Through previous experience you have a clear understanding of the A/E/C industry and acute knowledge of alternative delivery methods.

Commercial Awareness & Client Relationships -You’re able to balance delivering the clients’ needs and exceeding their expectations, while ensuring sound commercial and project results.

Communication - Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.

Presentation - You’re able to articulate your point of view with ease and comfortable presenting to a variety of different stakeholders (peers, clients, executive leadership).

Technical Background -You have a background in technical, a PE or PEng and major projects accreditation.

Success Mindset - Demonstrated track record of winning alternative delivery projects.

Established Network -Strong relationships with key contacts with private organizations and state and the ability to leverage those relationships.

Contract Awareness -You know key risks in Design-Build contracts and how to reduce risk in the delivery of the projects.

The expected salary for this position is $250 000 - $300 000. Individual pay is determined based on several factors such as work location, education, experience, and unique skills.
