Build on your experience while helping shape what comes next. At Mott MacDonald, you'll work alongside talented people on complex and rewarding projects that make a real difference. We value fresh perspectives, encourage collaboration, and provide opportunities to expand your skills, take on new challenges, and grow your career. Whether you're deepening your technical expertise, broadening your leadership experience, or exploring new opportunities across our business, you'll be supported by a team that is committed to helping you succeed.

Mott MacDonald is seeking a skilled and motivated water/wastewater engineer with hydraulic modeling experience to join our New York City office. In this role, you will collaborate with a team of dedicated professionals to plan and design local and regional projects throughout the Northeast. Your work will support the evaluation of flooding impacts and mitigation measures, municipal water transmission and distribution systems, and wastewater collection systems. With guidance from our team of professionals, your responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to:

  • Manage engineering tasks associated with the planning, design, or construction of water and wastewater infrastructure projects
  • Coordinate technical work with other members of the engineering and construction team
  • Conduct site investigations and collect water samples to support the development of water quality and climate resiliency projects
  • Develop regulatory permit applications for flood mitigation, water and wastewater infrastructure projects
  • Plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate engineering work involving conventional practices and complex project conditions, including conflicting design requirements
  • Evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria
  • Coordinate across disciplines to support program management, design and construction management activities
  • Support clients in meeting applicable regulatory requirements and performance metrics
  • Actively participate in project, client, and team meetings
  • Strengthen your organizational and project-delivery skills as you progress toward project management responsibilities
  • Actively participate in our Early Careers Professional Network

We welcome applications from candidates who meet the following qualifications:

  • Master of Engineering degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering, or a related engineering discipline
  • EIT required
  • Two or more years of experience in engineering consulting
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including technical writing; strong organizational skills; and strong technical aptitude
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Microsoft Project, and Teams, as well as InfoWorks ICM, HEC-RAS, PCSWMM, and geographic information systems (GIS)

Bring your expertise, curiosity, and drive to make a difference. If you are ready to join a collaborative consultancy where your perspective is valued, your growth is supported, and you are empowered to lead with integrity, we would love to hear from you.
