Mott MacDonald Singapore is currently recruiting an Environmental Consultant as part of our Environment & Society portfolio. In this role you will undertake tasks for environmental and social impact assessments (ESIA), environmental management plans (EMPs), climate change assessment and due diligence of infrastructure projects. We enable our clients to secure financing through timely delivery of comprehensive ESIAs, meeting the needs of a variety of financing institutions (example: private equity firms, banks, development banks, etc) within the context of international environment. You will be working hand-in-hand across the global Mott MacDonald Group as part of a large project team to deliver on our global projects.

Our team is working closely with our Clients in supporting investors in assessing projects and assist in their decision-making processes resulting in sustainable responsible investment with a positive social outcome. We work within international social frameworks such as IFC Performance Standards, ADB Safeguards, or World Bank Environmental and Social Framework. We focus on climate change and decarbonisation in our projects, enabling our Clients to meet their aspirations and commitments.

You will be working with our subject matter experts across Buildings, Energy, Water and Transport markets, as well as other disciplines of professionals, to deliver prestigious projects. You will have the opportunity to directly contribute to a greener, cleaner future for Singapore and the wider Asia region. We invest time in developing the competency of our employees through a variety of in-house training and development programmes. Wider experience will be gained through travelling to other offices, site visits and client meetings for better exposure of our work.

As part of the role, key responsibilities will include:

  • Contribute to environmental studies, analysis and reporting related to environment, social and climate change projects.
  • Ensure compliance of project activities with national environmental regulations and international standards.
  • Assist in project management including preparation of project work plans, schedules, budgets, the management of all technical activities and people coordination.
  • Project coordination and report writing for a variety of consultancy and advisory services projects, such as environmental and social due diligence (ESDD), climate change risks assessment (CCRA) and E&S assessments.
  • Grow your relationship management skills by working collaboratively with clients and internal teams to ensure that environmental considerations are considered.
  • Participate in project/client management through attending meetings with clients as well as coordinating between/within teams to address technical and commercial issues.
  • Supporting other team members and project managers to deliver high quality work.
  • Collaborating with other team members (both locally and globally), across disciplines and sectors, to pursue innovation and open opportunities with connected thinking.

About You:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline related to environment, earth systems ecology / biodiversity or other areas relevant to a core environmental, climate, ecology and social disciplines. Masters or post-grad qualifications highly desirable.
  • Self-motivated, analytical with a learning mindset.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication & presentation skills.
  • Excellent written communication with great attention to detail.
  • Team player with the ability to use your initiative to undertake tasks efficiently and independently.
  • A digital aptitude, strong learning mindset and interest to commit to driving social and sustainable outcomes in all that we do.
  • Collaborative, open, and constructive approach.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • A team player who is enthusiastic, driven and committed.
  • Willingness to travel domestically when needed for project site visits or client meetings.
  • Familiarity of any of following will be a plus
    • International lending safeguard requirements - such as Equator Principles (EPs) and International Finance Corporation (IFC) Performance Standards
    • E&S advisory services in a transactional / financing setting
    • Environmental impact assessment, whether to international standards or local regulations
    • Climate change and decarbonisation framework and reporting
    • A focus speciality with regards to one of the following: biodiversity, permitting, social impact assessment, and/or stakeholder engagement/survey/consultation
  • Right to work in Singapore.
