Your Opportunity

Mott MacDonald's Buildings Market supports projects across both the public and private sectors, delivering expertise across a wide range of asset types — from arts and culture, aviation, commercial, education, and healthcare to government, residential, sports, and transport buildings. Whatever the sector, we help clients create spaces that are resilient, efficient, and built for the future.

Due to growth in the business and an exciting pipeline of projects, Mott MacDonald’s Queensland Buildings team is seeking a collaborative and inclusive Buildings Market Leader to head our established and growing Brisbane team.

As Buildings Market Leader QLD, you’ll play a crucial role in shaping the future of our Buildings business at a state and national level. You’ll bring strong commercial acumen, leadership capability and market focus to influence business priorities and translate our corporate strategy into clear, actionable initiatives with measurable outcomes.

You’ll be a visible and trusted representative of the business, building and maintaining strong relationships across the Buildings market and positioning the company as a thought leader and trusted advisor.

You’ll lead a large, diverse team—setting clear direction, communicating consistently and empowering people to perform in a fast‑moving market. You’ll mentor senior leaders, grow emerging talent and build strong succession pipelines that lift capability across the business, all while fostering a high‑performance culture built on accountability, collaboration and shared results.

Commercially, you’ll drive growth and profitability across the Buildings portfolio, overseeing operational performance and ensuring delivery excellence, client satisfaction and overall efficiency. You’ll be able to:

  • Lead with passion and vision, reflecting our PRIDE values and supporting business goals by enhancing team capabilities, succession planning, and performance recognition.
  • Champion a collaborative and safe workplace culture, managing people pragmatically and promoting wellbeing and health across teams and locations.
  • Lead the delivery of profitable, quality-controlled projects that meet client expectations, identify and pursue further opportunities through effective outcomes, and contribute to significant projects.
  • Drive commercial success and timely project delivery by implementing effective resource planning, succession strategies, ensuring compliance with systems and procedures, and maintaining accurate, timely data through disciplined monthly project and client management.
  • Build and nurture impactful client relationships, mentoring your team to do the same, while collaborating with key roles such as Client Directors and national Market Leaders to enhance market presence in line with our unit strategy.
  • Lead the coordination of pursuits and winning work, advocate for all our capabilities across engineering, management and development, and make informed bid/no-bid decisions to drive commercial strategy, including the use of Global Delivery Services.

About you

You will have both a personal and professional passion for the Buildings market with an excellent track record in delivering projects in a commercial/consultancy environment. We welcome applications from those demonstrating:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Engineering or related field .
  • Experience in proactively developing client relationships to deliver buildings-related projects and work-winning opportunities .
  • Successful management of engineering project delivery.
  • Mentorship and guidance to staff for professional development.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and influencing skills with the ability to communicate across all levels internally and externally.
